Question about Computer Monitors

Open Question

Gateway VX900T Monitor went 'Red'.

I have been using a Gateway vx900T moniutor for a few years, been working fine, never a problem.  I have nvidia 'nview' software running for the NVidia GForce2 MX 100/200 video card w/64M ram, integrated RAMDAC.

Today when I brought the pc out of standyby, the screen saver stopped normally, but te screen has a 'Red' hue/tint to everything.  I have tried all color and resolution options in display properties, all front panel monitor adjustments, all nvidia software/color adjustments, unplugged and repowered the monitor... nothing helps.  Everything that is supposed to be white is pink/red.  Everything else has a red hue/tint.

Any ideas - or just time to donate this one and get a FP ?

This could be a problem with the monitor's data cable. Try to check it & find if there is any bent pins on the connector.
If this is not the case, there could be a loose connection on the monitor's PCB, or a failing component. This needs to be checked by a qualified technician.

Go to the setup menu on the LCD panel by pressing button 1 on the front. See if there is an option to reset the lcd to factory settings. Reset it and report if it helps not.

You will need to adjust your monitor settings in the NVidia control panel. You can get to this by right clicking somewhere in a blank spot on your desktop and then selecting it from the menu. You will want to go into the Display section. If you aren't able to see that section, change from "Standard" to "Advanced" settings at the top of the screen.

This is the strangest thing I've ever seen. I have a Gateway FPD1975W TFT Monitor and its always worked great. The other day it went into a sleep mode via windows, and now it wont boot up the input...

Your monitor problem is causes by the power supply. What is happening is the power supply voltages are not stable, just enough to power the unit up. When you connect it to a video signal the power demands slightly increase and the power supply can't handle it. This is a very common problem with LCD after a few years of use. The issue with the power supply is the capacitors have started to fail. These parts are used to filter the output voltage and when they start to fail the outputs start rippling hence the problem you are having. Here is a link to a repair article that shows how to repair the Gateway FPD1975W monitor.

I hope this helps you get back going.

I purchased a gateway HD2201 monitor all I see is white screen

Maybe your resolution is not set to the right settings for your new screen, set the resolution and refresh rate lower with the old screen attached and try again with the new screen

Monitor flashes image for split second then goes blank but green LED flashes as well

while the monitor is still powered on, but with the LED flashing, unplug the monitor from the PC. press the power button, and the monitor should go off, now plug the pc back into the monitor. Turn the monitor back on and it should work.

Occasionally this will not work for me, but if I repeat it it normally works

Hope this helps - my problem is intermitant so it may be different to what u guys have
