The problem I have with my DCR-TRV720 is the power will not come on with the battery or the charging unit pluged in. no signs of life at all. Just got back from Cuba, it worked fine there. Is it possible the wind off the beach carrying salty air, damage my camcorder, as it did not work after arriving back in T.O.

    Hi,

Pretty much the same problem. I plug it in to charge and I've got no juice whatsoever. The little green light won't come on and it won't power up. Do I need a new battery or a new power cord? It was working fine and then one day I went to use it and it wouldn't charge at all. I'm hoping it's just that the battery is completely dead. It's the one that came with the Camcorder.

I have the same problem. I tried 2 batteries fully charged. No light. I bought 2 new batteries and it won't start up with these either. The light still won't go on. It only works off a power cord. I changed the internal battery. It just won't work on batteries. The terminals are clean....

I have the same problem. The camera works fine on ac power but will not do anything on battery power. I have had the battery checked and it is ok. I also bought a new battery and had the same problem. I have now bought a new seperate charger to charge the batteries and they are fully charged and the camera will still not turn on with batteries, only with ac power hooked up.

I have the same problem. I am definitely sure that the batteries are okay.

I even tried to externally wire connect the battery to the power adapter socket and it worked. Which means that battery has juice. However, it doesnt work when connected to the battery slot.

With My JVC GY HD 110U the batteries wouldn't work because of a small yellow plastic tip from the power adaptor breaking within. I saw that someone else had the same problem and disassembled the camera in order to remove it. Instead, I chose to heat a safety pin and melted it into the ring. After cooling for a couple of minutes I was able to pull it out. It's a surgical procedure and you need to be careful not to melt the camera body. You can rest the needle along the center pin on the way down. You'll need pliers, needle and flame.

So is the battery new, or is a new camera altogether? Since you say it no longer works, but the battery is new, makes me think that you purchased a new battery for the camera? I would take the battery back to the store and tell them to replace it, since it's new. There's not much you can do to fix this, other than replace the battery. This kind of thing does happen even with new batteries.

I'm pretty sure you need a new battery. I understand you have a new one, but it can be bad. I would take it back and exchange for another one.

3 new batteries and the problem is not solved. How about focusing on the problem. How to get the battery to charge teh camera. Is there a fuse we can change. Some ACTUAL solution. not midless comments.

More than likely the camera has an internal problem in the power supply section. Try to find same battery charger or camera and do Cross-Check, hook new charger with camera and confirm charging process and hook your charger in other same camera and confirm is it working? You will rectify the problem unit, either camera or charger.

Can a new battery destroy a camcorder?

It sure looks like it did some damage. At least you've got a work around. If the guy didn't say the battery would work in your camera, it's hard to see how he's at fault. It appears that he did live up to his end of the bargain. Perhaps you should have looked at the battery specs to see what it works with? Even if he's at fault, he probably would owe you only the current value of your camera rather than a new one.
