My screen is cracked on the inside and is white/black and part is fuzzy olympus vg170

Because you need the screen to frame a picture and see all info, your camera can't be used normal, without one.
You can contact Olympus and ask (perhaps in a mail) what it will cost to replace the screen. Perhaps you can buy a screen and (let) replace it.
You could check on ifixit dot com if someone before did replace a screen on the same model of camera. See if it is difficult and see what it will cost.
Perhaps you also should ask what a new camera will cost.

How do i get the viewfinder to show fullscreen. At the moment there are 2 black strips down each side in "iauto" mode. When i first had the camera it was fullscreen. Thank you.

The LCD screen on the Olympus SP-800uz camera is widescreen (16:9).
If you set the camera to take pictures in (4:3) ratio you het the black sides.

Solution:
Select a Widescreen Image Size (see the manual page 30) by selecting one of
the available Image Size settings 16:9 (L) (4288×2416) or 16:9 (S) (1920×1080).

How do i take a panoramic picture with an olympus stylus 790 sw camera? i know how to get to the section that lets me choose the button "Panorama" but it won't let me select it. Its just gray and not black...

you need an olympus memory card to open the panorama function. sucks but it works

My screen and thepictures i take are black.

You may want to call Olympus Technical Support as there was a recall with this camera because of the image processing chip. It was only affecting certain serial numbers. Their telephone number is 888-553-4448 option 5 and they will be able to see if your camera is in one of the affected groups.

hi mindy,

there is absolutely nothing to worry about. thry may b the dead pixels in your lcd screen.

go on, click ur pictures. they will not show up in the final photographs or the printed ones.

there's no need to worry.

Olympus 850sw water proof camera, there's a black dot on screen everytime i take a picture tried cleaning lens but no forgien dust/objects on there

you can try to pixel map in the menus to clear out spots but it does appear to need repair

You must go to a camera technician. There are some parts inside that already been loosen. That's what happened to my camera before.

Pictures Are All Black

I just posted a similar question I have a olympus Fe-110. I can see old pictures through the view screen, but when change the setting to take a image its all black.

The solution you can try is to run a function of the camera called Pixel Mapping to see if this removes the dot as it will redistribute the pixels of the camera on the LCD screen. To access this function - have the camera in shooting mode - go to Menu - right arrow to setup and press Ok - down arrow to pixel mapping and right arrow over to highlight start and press ok. The camera will try to repair itself. If after running this the dot is still there then you may need to send the camera to Olympus for service as the image processing chip may need to be replaced. http://olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/cpg_servicerepair.asp
