Given the age of the C87 it's likely that you haven't used this printer in a while and/or it's just slowly become clogged over time.
The ink in the C8x series printers is a resin based pigment ink which is very prone to clogging so it's not exactly unusual.
The best way to resolve this is to follow this procedure:
Press the ink button once to get the printhead into the "exchange cartridge" position
Pull the power cord out of the back of the printer
Move the printhead over to the left out of the way
Using a suitable inkjet ink cleaning solution soak the parking pad area where the printhead usually sits (This is a small foam padded area to the far right that sits in line with the printhead).
Move the printhead back over to the right
Leave for 24 hours (Patience is vital... Just leave it alone - see below)
Plug the printer back in and run a single (just ONE) cleaning routine and a nozzle check
If the nozzle check is still showing no colours on the black, cyan and yellow, leave it for an hour then try printing something with a little colour in it. (Sometimes the printer just needs a little rest time to sort itself).
If still not printing properly, repeat steps 1- 8 again (and yes, wait another 24 hours!).
The way this works is that cleaning solution is able to wick up into the printhead nozzles and break down the clog. However it does take time to do this, hence the "be patient" bit :-). Distilled water is not recommended for this printer as the ink is not a water based type so a proper cleaning solution will work much more effectively.
Using this technique I've been able to recover CX6600, C84 and numerous other printers that have been completely clogged and unused for years so it does work.

Hi I think maybe it could be that your ink cartages are slipped on the thin belt that moves them from one side to another or it stuck or belt come off take a look and see it the ink will slid from side to side you can do this by hand but don’t push them to hard, that what it sounds like to me it worth a try. All Best: Pineworks
Wow, that's a really old EPSON printer. The life expectancy of a EPSON printer is just three years, after that, the printer wouldn't work because of the clogged permanent printing head. The authorized service center is unable to repair it because the spares are no longer supplied. Throw it to a recycling center.
The colours in the 3 colour cartridges are cyan, magenta and yellow. If you want to print "red", this requires a mixture of magenta and yellow. Thus if only yellow is printed when you should be printing red, it means the magenta is not printing i.e. faulty/empty magenta cartridge or faulty/blocked magenta nozzles.
Please post a new comment if you wish for further help with this problem.
