4 yellow ghost lines on the screen. I replaced the lamp twice and the problem is still there. Any ideas of what it could be?

I have the same issue but have not changed the lamp. Looking at the posts so far it may not be the lamp.

I have a yellow circle in the middle of the screen. I had it diagnosed to be the light engine. Hitachi offers NO help. I'm looking for some kind of class action suit. This problem has existed for several years and these sets should last longer than 2 years. $1000 for repair is disgusting. Anyone else?

This sounds like your light engine is going out. NOT GOOD! It all depends when you bought your set and if its under warranty. I had the same thing with mine bought is 2004, light engine died in 12/08 and was out of warranty. Talked to the rep. said they knew about the problem. They replaced my light engine for free but I had to have a authorized dealer install it . I had to pay for the labor $300, Now I've got another problem with it shutting down and back on.(That's another story.) I would call Hitachi and let them know that you know they have problems with this. Keep trying they may replace your to. To buy one out right is $400 to $500 plus labor, some folks have paid $800 to $1400 , That's a shame. Hope this is helpful. GOOD LUCK!!

I just got this hitachi 50v500 from a friend. We had to have a lamp fixed, but now the screen is blurry, like the ghost shadow problem I've been reading about. The repairman who replaced the bulb said...

There is a specific method for ghost adjustment on the 50v500.

Ghosting is most noticeable on lettering or with the set in the 4X3 format the edges will look somewhat double or have a ghost.

If this is what you have: I have the process which is done with the Hitachi remote to correct this. I got this from Hitachi who published a service bulletin on this problem for this model.

Hitachi 50v715 poping noise, also affects sony wireless headphones

Pull back off and try to to see if there is anything arcing or where the popping noise is coming from. It could be the ballast board. This is the high voltage for the lamp. A arc(snap) would come through the audio. BE VERY CAUTIOUS IN THIS AREA BECAUSE OF HIGH VOLTAGE!!! Always unplug the set when pulling off wires or have your hand inside the set. Unless you are taking voltage checks and have a little electronics background. Hope this is helpful....

First of all sorry for delay.
can you provide a image of yello shadow.I believe it seems to be technically say "ghost image"
If it is ghost image we can try by entering SERVICE Menu and adjust RGB level of the light engine.
