Did you replace the Convergence Resistors at the same time?

If not you need to replace them also.

OK, friends.. Replace two Ic's Stk 392-110, and get in service menu settings , and adjust point by point. After replaced stk IC's, check if any resistor look brown or born, if yes, replaced it with 6.8 Ohms.SOme time SSB is defective ( small signal board, replaced it ) If you have questions? HELP! phillips 60PP92902

That model will usually have a couple 6.8ohm 1watt resistors that will get burned open when the ICs go out they are located right next to the ICs and they are all identical resistors often with no color bands just marked with 6R8 1WJ. Lift one side of the resistors out of circuit to check them with an ohms meter. radio shack wont have those resistors but you can get them at the following link.

Do not adjust any knobs as instucted in the previous thread if you TV have a convergence problem. Doing so will only make things worse. The blog does however show you how to fix other common problems with these sets.

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kits for most models. If you don't see a kit for your set send them a quick note and they will put one together for you. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, etc.

Sorry to bother you again but I did some research and the chip numbers are STK 392-120 but using STK 392-180 is recommended replacement. If the picture is bowed or skewed any at all then the chips are needed replace both and check if any 6.8 ohm resistors are burned or open. Resistors Can be measured out of circuit with a digital volt-ohm meter. Have you tried the consumer menu and located the convergence adjustments? If it only need touch up you should go there. And the numbers I gave you 062597 must be followed with pressing the status button on the original remote. this goes into the service menu and adjustment to convergence can be made there also if touch up is needed or after you replace the chips Hope this helps

Tv troubleshoot for me

chances are that IC804 has failed. You have two ICs that allow you to converge the three colors. IC804 is used for Red Horizontal and Vertical Convergence and also for Green Vertical Convergence. IC805 is used for Blue Horizontal and Vertical Convergence and also for Green Horizontal Convergence. These ICs run very hot and have a very high failure rate which sometimes will cause damage to resistors in their associated circuits. They are both STK-110 and it's best to replace them both at the same time. It's also a good idea to upgrade them to either STK-150 or STK-180. These will run a lot cooler than the STK-110.

Before replacement do inspect for any open or overheated resistors as I stated earlier. Being you only have problems with Red Convergence the plus and minus power supplies should be okay since they are common to both ICs.

Try www.tritronicsinc.com. They have the Hitachi CZ00433 (STK392-150) in stock for $20.11 ($32.43 retail). These are Hitachi OEMs. I've had very good results replacing STK392-110s with these chips. Do check for open or overheated resistors before replacing these chips
