Question about Alesis MasterLink ML-9600
Help! The kids have been fiddling with the DVD. When I tried to record, the DVD could not find the correct channel. I've tried rescanning the DVD and the TV. Then I got fiddling and now the remote isn't working! Whenever I try to use it, the DVD screen reads 'remote DVD2'. Really fed up.
I had the Exact same problem, after finding nothing on the net I called
Panasonic customer-Support and they gave me the information which led
to the solution:
If your DVD screen reads 'remote DVD2':
Press and hold simultaneously the "2" & "Enter" buttons (for more than 20 seconds)
If the screen said remote DVD3 then you would hold "3" & "Enter"
What I found happens when this command is accepted, the DVD screen changes to display the channel & counter
e.g. "A2 0:00.26"
If the screen changes back to "Remote DVD2" this means that the signal from the remote control has been interrupted (you stopped pressing, or the batteries have become weak.)
Providing the batteries have power, try again remembering to hold the "Enter" and number displayed after DVD.
The first time I did this it seemed to take forever (more than 30secs.), but other times it's been accepted in 6 secs.

Do you still have the instruction manual for the machine? It's covered in the manual. Basically Panasonic assume that you have more than one of their machines in the room, and want you to be able to use two similar but different remotes with two similar but different machines.
Call one machine DVD1 and the other DVD2 - there's a menu option to change them within the 'setup' menus. You change the remote setting by the process outlined in the other solution here, and in the manual.
There's probably a pdf download of the manual at a Panasonic site somewhere.....
