LG WM1812CW PROBLEM

Error code is LE.  Can move drum reasonably freely.  Make a hissing noise and attempts to rotate drum but seems stuck.  Tries to move drum in both directions without success.  Stops trying and hissing noise stops.  This repeats every minute or so.  Have tried different cycles and options without success including power off and retry.  Please send potential solutions to:

monthaven6@aol.com

Thanks.

I've got the same problem. I also see an LE come up on the screen after it keeps trying to spin. Called LG and they didn't think it was anything big...tried to fix over phone. No luck. Any other suggestions?

Actually, I believe the Ball Sensor in the repair manual is meant to detect load imbalances; it mounts next to the dampers (see part A495 in the Cabinet parts explosion on page 34). I cannot find the Hall Sensor listed in the manual as a separate part, although it is pictured as an integral part of the Stator in the Drum and Tub Assembly explosion on page 35.
The Repair Manual simply says to check the resistance between poles on the motor, and to replace the Main PWB if the resistances are within tolerance. It does not mention the Hall Sensor at all.

Simple and fairly inexpensive to replace.

We figured out LE problem. It is the speed sensor and it can be ordered from Repair Clinic.com. Item number is 1268237. Cost is $22.90. Hope this is helpful.

Good luck! It's a Hall Effect Sensor or more commonly on rotating machines a "speed sensor."

They call it a Ball Sensor in the manual.

Never assume they know what they are talking about.

The Ball Sensor is another sensor used to determine unbalanced loads. The Hall Sensor is attached to the stator and the part # for model WM1814 is 6501KW2001A. Thanks for making the service manual available to others.

My LG washer was having a hard time spinning. It was making a high pitched noise and would move sometimes and sometimes not. I was not getting an error code. After messing with it a while it stopped spinning altogether and then I got the LE error code. I replaced the old "Hall Sensor" part #6501KW2001A with a new #6501KW2002A. It works perfectly again! Look on youtube for the part number above and watch the video posted by "repair clinic". They show you step by step how to replace it. It's really very easy. The only hard part for me was removing the main bolt. I really had to torque on it while holding the drum from spinning.

Call a authorized Lg Repair and have the "Hall Sensor"
replaced.

Error code LE what does it mean

The LE error indicates that the Controller is having trouble communicating with the motor.

The most common cause for this is if something gets wedged in and the drum can't turn freely. Try turning it by hand to make sure it is free. The next most common cause is if someone spins the drum moderately fast with the washer turned off. I.e. if you give it a spin to make sure their isn't a sock stuck to the drum.. To fix this, unplug the machine and turn the drum counterclockwise 4 full rotations followed by 4 rotations clockwise at low speed. Plug it back in and see if that fixes it.

If that's not it, then there is a sensor called the Hall Sensor that could be the problem. I've never had to replace one of these and can't comment further.

LE errors mean the motor is locking up and cannot turn the drum. If the drum turns freely by hand then it could be https://www.repairclinic.com/RepairHelp/How-To-Fix-A-Washing-Machine/406-200-684484-/LG-LE-MOTOR-ERROR-Motor-Stator-overheat-or-connection-error-WM2016CW
If that is not the problem then the motor needs replaced.

My lg washer, wm2277hw, has the LE error code, so how do I manually make it spin to extract the water.

Hi

Error code LE indicates that either the motor is not turning or has locked up for some reason. It can also be due to Hall sensor which monitors direction and speed of the motor. If the sensor is faulty then also this error appears. Motor lock can be caused by several things from a loose connector, to a bad motor. To make sure it's not a locked motor, try turning the drum with your hand. And, if there is any resistance while turning the drum or the drum doesn't move freely then the motor is locked and you'll need to get it replaced. If the motor seems to be fine then you would need to replace the Hall Sensor. To replace the hall sensor, take the back cover off. Take the big nut off and remove the motor rotor. Remove the bolts holding the motor windings. Remove the electric plug on the sensor and unclip it from the motor winding. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

Drum starts to move then stops then Le appears and a slight hissing noise from direct drive motor. Looks like intemittant fault

The LE error message means "locked motor error" which means the control is not seeing the motor running.

The problem can be caused by a broken wire or loose connection but the most likely cause of the problem is a bad hall sensor.

The sensor can be accessed by removing the rear panel and the rotor assembly. See the image below for help with this. Remember to unplug the washer first.

Make sure the rotor and drum rotate. Anything blocking the tub rotation might trigger an LE code.

Lg wd8074fhb will not rotate drum on was or rinse

LE=Load Error CE=Cycle Error
Unplug at socket for two hours will reset the Error Sensors. The sensors are there to prevent overheating of the motor and the possible risk of a fire.
Load Error is linked with too much weight in the drum. Cycle Error is limked with an uneven load.
If it happens again, unplug for two hours to reset the Error Sensors.
Hope this helps.
