Question about Sharp 27DV-S100 27 in. TV/VCR/DVD Combo

Open Question

Sharp 27DV-S100 - DVD tray stuck and open unit?

Funny story - but need a better ending: I banged my head on the open DVD disk tray - now it will not close - it opens a bit when I push "OPEN" and closes a bit when I push "PLAY".  I believe the problem is that I pushed the tray off the track and gear and the tray skipped and comes out too far, so now when the tray tries to go back in, the reader (?) inside pops up too early and will not allow for the disc tray to close...I have tried to open the television as I have loosened all the screws on the front panels and removed them - however, I still cannot get the panel off the front of the televison (the entire front section: the problem is the bottom portion does not seem to budge - is there a trick further than removing all the obvious screws?

I have a stuck tray for a Toshiba DVD/TV combo...possibly due to a DVD inside. Haven't succeeded in getting front off yet either as some screws are too recessed to get at with standard screwdriver. However, I noted there are tab locks on the bottom of the TV. These plastic or metal pieces may not be obvious but look like they need to be pressed in to release case.

open back up the set and look closly at all of the plug connections and cables as you might not have pulled one out all the way but may have in inadvertantly pulled on a cable of one of them and pulled one out have way or just a little. My freind it happens to the professionals all the time. Make sure you check all the plugs on the VCR as well as the tv that they are instraight and flush. Good Luck Ps Please dont forget to rate this.

replace the dvd mechanism assembly.usually
runs 60-90 bucks.you can buy the part from
encompass.com.the dvd mech cannot be repaired by individual parts.the entire dvd mech
must be changed and is available.this may
require a technician to repair this depending on
how mechanically inclined you are.the part is
available to the public.

I have a vertical black line on sharp lc-52xd1e is this dead pixels?

It means an addressing transistor for one column of pixels is dead. It can probably be repaired. It would be statistically unlikely for more than a couple of pixels to die over the lifetime of a set.

DVD will not eject DVD

I just had that same problem. i tried turning the tv off and then but didn't work. What worked for me was tu unplugged the power chord from the outlet, wait for 5 seconds, then replugged it, turn the tv on and while it's turning on open the dvd tray. It should open without problem. At least it worked for me.
