HI
When you grind your coffee, try to pinch the coffee between your fingers. If it sticks to one finger and forms an impression of your fingers, that's good. If it doesn't, then your grounds are not fine enough. Fresh beans also is a must.
Don't use the single basket because thay don't work that well.
Fill the basket level with ground coffee, then tap the portafilter on something hard to settle the coffee. Then do your tamp, with about 30 psi pressure. Wipe the lip of the portafilter before you insert it in the brew head. then do your brew. You should not get any drops for about 5 seconds after you turn on the switch. then it should just drip a little, then you should get a mouse tail from the spouts. You are shooting for a 1 1/2 oz. to 2 oz in about 30 seconds. No more than 2 ozs from a double shot basket. Add water if you want more.

Hi, last week I purchased the Rancilio Silvia Espresso Machine. For most of this time I have been having near perfect coffee. Today for some reason, the shot has poured way too quickly resulting in weak coffee. The grind appears to be fine, I have tampered it the same as I have over the past week, the only thing that seems to be happening is the water coming out too quickly. Can you see a solution to this promblem? thankyou.

I have a Rancilio Silvia about 2 years old. About 10 days ago I did a descale and backflush process, (very little came out) but now it is leaking from the right hand side when facing machine (but only when turned on) from the gap between the base and the body. I suspect it is the 3 way solenoid valve, but would like some advice before we attempt a repair. Is this a symptom of solenoid breakdown and is it a self repair job for a handyman husband?
