My soniclean vacuum runs but as soon as I put the vacuum to carpet or floor the it shuts off and the check brush light comes on. Nothing is blocking the brushes or stuck in the intake hole

Sounds like the belt for the brush is worn, stretched, or loose. Replace the belt. OR the brush is set to low or set for hard floor. Set the brush up to next mark until it works. Using it set to low can cause the brush belt to stretch over time. If it spins when not in contact with the floor- it is the belt.

I have a hoover floor mate hard floor cleaner and the brushes won't spin

Hi, it's Jeremy from Crucial Vacuum.

In the link below you will find the user manual for your Hoover Floor Mate vacuum:
http://hoover.com/file/597/

Here are a few repair tips to make fixing your vacuum easy. Your Hoover brush-roll is connected to the motor by two different sized geared belts. Over time, the belt's gears wear down and stretch out losing the grooves and tension that turn the roller. When this happens you will simply have to attach a new set of belts. Another reason why your brush is not spinning could be that there is debris stuck in the roller and/or bearings. You can either use a can of compressed air to remove the debris or simply remove it with your hand.

The belt is intact but the aggitator doesn't spin anymore. Had a horrible rubber smell, went to change belt. Not the problem. Anyone know what could be wrong? Dirt Devil bagless w/dirt indicator

Even though your belt is intact it still could be worn. if you tilt the vac up (roller off the floor and the roller spins, replace the belt. on most vacuums the life of the belt for optimum performance should be 9- 12 months. If your vac has a carpet / bare floor selection, check to make sure it is in carpet mode.

Only suction to attachments

Something is stuck in the throat of the floor head, between the brushes that turn, and where the hose connects at one side (usually right hand side) of the floor head.

Reply back what you find.

Roller not spinning on hard floors

after 2 weeks it should be still under warranty. but my guess is you have hair etc wrapped around the brush tip vac so you can see brush(es) remove all string, hair etc... from around the brush area (may have to remove bottom to get all the hair etc... stuck around it. it also may have been jammed up pretty tight and continued use could snap the belt or burn out motor
