Question about Philips 50PP9202 50" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Picture has a Glow and Looks Yellow on the Edges

The picture seems to have a glow in the middle but darkens toward the edges.  Overall, the picture seems a little yellow, but that yellow color is more pronounced along the edges and corners of the screen.  If white letters are on the screen, they seem to look a little yellow but have a blue glow around the edges.

I also tried doing convergence, and blue converge seems to glow.

Screen blury, very pink, green edging on picture almost colorless!

This would be a convergence issue you can run the convergence setup that is in your user manual if that does not work you are going to need service.

Picture Problem!! and its not convergence (Double vision except for middle of screen)

Could be pin correction circuit or your picture tubes could be worn out . Sometimes when the crt's get weak the edges seem not as clear as the center of the screen . Give model number if you think the pin correction may be your problem but, the tv is pretty old and avg. life for them is 12 to 15 years when the picture tubes start to degrade . Good luck

Yellowing screen off-center - not a convergence issue

You might want to try the optic lens adjustment screw on the side of each crt. Mark them before moving.

Brightness Problem

If it is a glow around the edges, it could be one of two problems. The Picture tubes could be getting soft or weak, or there is a bad capacitor in the screen drive circuit or in the sweep power supply. If you have a service manual and a multimeter, you should be able to locate a bad capacitor with an ESR type capacitor checker. If you do not have any knowledge on solid state repairs, please call in a pro to assist you in this repair. Good Luck.
