Emerson Smartset Clock Radio

Emerson Research SmartSet Clock Radio (by 21 users)

posted by Sruskin on Oct 28, 2007

I bought an EmersonReserach SmartSet Clock Radio years ago that would automatically set the time, day, date, and month upon plugging it in. It would also switch automatically for daylight savings time, a feature I just loved!! However, now that congress passed the ruling that daylight savings time is different the clock doesn't change at the right day of the calendar. Now a clock that I never touched to correct the time I am needing to touch touch 4 different times in order to take into account when daylight savings times ends or begins because the clock looks like it doesn't have an mechanism to override the original programmed dates.
Do you know if there is anything I can do to adjust the programming to this clock to take into account the new dates of daylight savings time?? Thx!

I just got up this morning at 4 A.M. because my smart clock reset the time for me and I didn't notice. I loved this clock when I bought it but now instead of having to change the time twice a year as I used to do. I now have to change it four time. That isn't so smart.

I have the same problem with my SmartSet Clock Raido Model # CKS2288. It automatically changes to Daylight Savings Time on the first Sunday in April when the rest of the country moves to Daylight Savings on the second Sunday in March. The same problem occurs when we switch back to Standard time. The clock resets itself the last Sunday in October and the rest of the country moves back to Standard Time the first Sunday in November. The clock needs to be reprogrammed or a switch added to manually switch from Daylight Savings Time to Standard Time and back again.

I read the first link about how in the 1st sunday, you will need to change your time zone, and manually fix the clock to the hour right? Well I did that, and it wont hit from 2-2:59. At all. If i go down from 3am, it goes to 1:59 and visa versa.

All the time zones programmed into the clock do this. Help?

I think Emerson should be made to re-program the clocks. They made the promotion that it does what they claim it does.....now it doesn't so they should be responsable to fix it. I didn't buy the clock from the government because they advertised DST features were available....Emerson did that.....so let Emerson fix the problem or we all boycott them....

Here's a fix, it may not work on all models and you need to re-do it every time you change the lithium battery.

  • Adjusting the DST Start Date on an Emerson Research Smartset:
    1. Depress & hold the MONTH/DATE and the ALARM1 buttons (at the same time). After 3 seconds the display will show the DST 'start' month, week, and date. It should be alternately showing "4 F" (April and first week week) and "4. 1".
    2. While still holding the MONT/DATE and the ALARM1 buttons, press the DOWN (or "-") button 3 times, until the display is showing "3" (March) and the week as "F2". It should alternately flash "3 F2" and "3. 11".
    3. After this is set, the clock should "automatically" reset itself
  • Adjusting the DST End Date on an Emerson Research Smartset:
    1. Depress & hold the MONTH/DATE and the ALARM2 buttons (at the same time). After 3 seconds the display will show the DST 'end' month, week, and date. It should be alternately showing "10 L" (October and last week week) and "10. 28".
    2. While still holding the MONT/DATE and the ALARM1 buttons, press the UP (or "+") button 1 time, until the display is showing "11" (November) and the week as "F". It should alternately flash "11 F" and "11. 4".
    3. After this is set, the clock should "automatically" reset itself

After I bought my Emerson clock radio, the dates that we change daylight savings time changed so it no longer does it on the correct weekend. Is it possible to reprogram it so it doesn't do this incorrectly every spring and fall? Now I have to readjust twice in the spring and fall to correct.

My clock didn't change with daylight savings time, and now it changed forward another hour after I already manually set it.  Also, it says it's Monday when it's Tuesday.  I no longer have the user's guide and don't know what time zone I'm in since I moved from New Mexico to Montana nor do I know how to change the day of the week.

My clock radio won't switch to the new Daylight Savings time. BUT it does switch on the old scheduled DST night. It makes it very hard to get to work on time. How do I at least get it to stop switching automaticly?

I have an Emerson Research clock, Model #CKS 2237, SN 40707887PH. How do you program for daylight saving time in your area? We live in Phoenix AZ and do not have daylight savings here. The dates of daylight savings has changed anyway, but we don't want our clock to change.
