hmmm.. seems had a problem directly on the hardware side of your computer. my only and good recommendations to you is, first, check if your packard bell desktop has or still have a Warranty, if its on warranty, you can go to the service center to check the hardware of your PC. Second, if your computer is Out of Warranty you can check it by your self, open your CPU Drive, clean the dust inside the Hardware then check everything if all the wire's are still INTACT to each other.
If your laptop appears to boot up and the hard disk LEDflashes, then the problem is probably a back light fault. This can be a faultyinverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. Please click on this link and follow myinstructions to identify the fault and possible fix :-
When you hit the power key also hit the F11 key keep pressing it until you get into the
then follow on screen instructions
please back up all you files or pictures ist onto a disc or pendrive
because if you take it back to factory settings you will loose everything that you have put onto the
laptop but the bonus is that you will have a nice clean hoopefully sweet running laptop
There is a ribbon cable connecting things together. Sometimes they crack. Sometimes they are in the hinge area and may be able to be replaced but would be expensive at a shop and a bit technical. There could also be dirt or a sugar liquid like pop or coffee spilled inside the on/off or hinge switch (a little switch that is pushed when the laptop closes, usually near the jam or could be inside casing.) and this could be causing a short. Probably ribbon cable, may not be able to be replaced! without replacing screen. Here's hoping for you. This is generalized information and not P.Bell specific.. Need more info as to whether is just screen or whole laptop going off/on. Good luck, hope this helps some.
Check the back of the PC case, There maybe a screw that needs to be removed in order to open the side panel. Another thing could be that there is some kind of sliding lock, that is holding the panel in place. Keep playing around in the back of the case, most likely you'll find it within a few minutes.
Hey Richard, Matthew here. This could be due to a wire being nipped at the hinge of the laptop. This is not and unusual problem and I believe should be fixed warrenty. Try emailing packard bell if the warrenty is still on it. If not any computer shop should be able to fix it for you. They should be able to quoat you on a price and fix it in about a day. Hope this helps. Good luck. Matthew
