Problem installing Windows XP on Compaq C 740 TU with Vista

hello guys....i have Vista basic installed on my compaq C 740 TU laptop.....i wish to install windows Service Pack 3 on my machine.....but whenever i insert the XP cd and boot from it.....it fails to recognize the drives on my laptop....because of which i am not able to install XP.....i heard that i will have to install some drivers...den i will have to use a software called nLite....i have no idea about what to do next....i have downloaded nLite but cant figure out which driver to download and from where......i would really appreciate if someone would give some information about how i proceed from here and get windows XP sp-3 installed on the laptop .....thanks...

To install Windows XP, it is complicated. You need to have the drivers for your Compaq Presario available on another PC so you can copy as needed. I'd suggest going to the Compaq (now HP) site to see if drivers are available. Good luck !
