Question about Black & Decker SpaceMaker ODC325 Coffee Maker

2 Answers

Doesnt work I bought the black and decker under the counter coffee maker in June and it doesnt work at all. I am very upset. I payed 49.99 plus tax and havent even had it for a year. It is hanging up, hasnt been bumped or anything. And now it doesnt work. Shouldnt your stuff last longer than that? I bought it with the name being the primary reason, because your products usually are good. I am very dissapointed and frustrated. Good money spent on somthing I am now probably stuck with. I cant take it back to K-Mart becase it has been too long. Can you do anything about it??? Please help a unsatisfied customer. Or I know I wont be buying any more of your products. Approximatley 6 months ago I purchased a Black & Decker Spacemaker ODC440 coffee maker for $49.95. I have been most pleased with it until last night when it just stopped working for no apparent reason as I brewed a full pot of coffee. Needless to say, I was quite embarrassed as I explained to my Thanksgiving guests that there would be no coffee to go with their dessert. I cannot return the coffee maker to the store as I have had it for 6 months AND it has been used. Can you help me with this problem or am I just stuck with an expensive coffee maker that no longer works. Will I be an unhappy, dissatisfied customer that will have to find another brand of kitchen appliances?

I bought a SpaceMaker coffee pot aprox. 6 mos. ago and it has stopped working. The display is blank and won't brew. I would like a replacement.

  • Anonymous Mar 13, 2008

Ditto. In the middle of the start of the brew cycle, the clock/timer screen went blank and all other functions stopped. The maker is over 6 months old and as such cannot be returned. At the price tag of almost $50 and the name "Black&Decker," I expected a more dependable appliance and am grossly disappointed. I have removed the back and, with my limited repair skills, cannot see any disernable problems, Scorching due to an electrical short, loose wire, evidence of water around the electical wiring. Any advice?

Only had coffee maker about 2 months. It just stopped. LED screen lights up, says it's on - and warmer plate gets hot... but water doesn't run through. Very disappointed after having Balck and Deckers for 30+ years.

Only had this coffee maker about 2 months. It just stopped. LED screen works and says "on," and the warming plate heats up, but no water runs through. I have unplugged, re-inserted each part many times, and it just won't work. Very disappointed. Have had B & D undercounter coffee makers for 30+ years.

My under the counter has always worked great. Two days ago, it just quit. LED lights are on, warming plate works, but no water runs through.

I have a Black & Decker SpaceMaker II ODC425 coffee maker and today it stopped functioning. I put in water and coffee as usual. Pressed the ON button and nothing happened. This coffee maker is installed in a RV and has been working great till now. Hope you can help. Thanks, Fred

Lights are on, plate is warm but no water is getting into the line. I have run 50/50 water/vinegar through the coffee maker but now I can't get that to flow through either.

My B&D Spacemaker does not drain all the water either and this is a replacement unit as the original unit did not drain all the water either.

I don't want to contact B&D for another replacement as I had to go to the time, effot, and expense of cutting the electrical cord to mail to them, and then paying the shipping costs for the new one they sent me via UPS from U.S. to Canada.

The unit orginally cost $89.99 Cdn, add the $26.54 for the postage and shipping costs and the unit still does not function properly!

I didn't feel the first time that I should have had to absorb the cost of shipping and so I sure as heck don't want to pay shipping costs for a second time!!!!

Has anyone figured out a way to make it drain all the water out of the resevoir? I'm tired of trying to guess how much water I think might drain so that I can guesstimate how much coffee to add to the basket so that I MIGHT get a decent cup of coffee.

    Any response/suggestion is appreciated.

    Sincerely,
"Don't mess with my morning coffee!"

The thermal cutoff switch is probably stuck (blown) open and won't reset. It mounts on (against) the heater unit, and the part number is 36TMH0110603L320-32F (cuts off between 320 and 332F). I can't find any for sale, but there is a slightly different one available which cuts off between 315 and 350F. The problem is I can't find an outlet that sells singles of those. If you can find someone who sells individual parts with serial no: 36TMH0110539L315-50F let me know.

I broke down and ordered the part I found at an electrical component
warehouse. It was fairly simple to install and the coffeemaker has
worked great every day since (over two months now, a full pot every
morning), but since the minimum order was 15 cutoff switches I now have
14 that I won't need for (hopefully) quite a while. If anyone else
wants one I'll drop it in the mail for $10, including postage, to
anywhere in Canada or the continental US. I'll even include detailed
instructions and graphics. There is minimal soldering involved, but it
is strictly in-line and open so there's no circuit-board work. I did
    everything on the kitchen counter.

Still going strong after a year. If anyone needs a spare cutoff I still have a few left.

Altrev... I have the same problem... eeems like many do. Do you still have the termal switch available? My email is oddavies@yahoo.ca (live in British Columbia, Canada).

Is ther a secret to getting into the case? I do have the security torx bit (one with a hole in the middle) for the single screw (with a pin in centre) that I can see.

Use your phone book or online yellow pages to search for a repair shop in your area. I suspect a thermal fuse has blown in your unit. Only an experienced repair tech can replace it. Sometimes, the cost of the repair is more than a replacement appliance.

My under the counter coffee maker stopped working after only a couple of months.

Does the display work? Does the platter heat up when it is turned on to brew? If yes to both, this might be the problem and solution. Please read both (scroll).

Hello. If you are hoping to repair this and can see the crack that is causing the leak you can repair it with a marine grade epoxy. This can be found at Home Depot and most hardware stores. J.

Looking for the on/off switch

I've replaced the power switch/button on a Black & Decker SmartBrew coffee maker (DCM2000).

I used an illuminated rocker switch from NTE Electronics rated at 16A @ 125 VAC, part number 54−531.
This switch cost me $3.12 CDN + taxes.

http://www.nteinc.com/switches/pdf/illuminated_rocker.pdf

The pinouts on this switch are the same as the rocker switches/power buttons used in the basic Black & Decker Smartbrew coffee makers.
You can simply cut out the old switch and attach this one to the wires in the same order, as indicated by the square notch on the body of the switch/gold terminal.
