Question about HP iPAQ HX4700 Pocket PC
For some reason my hx4700 no longer recognises the stlus imput. It may work for one tap or sometimes 3 or 4 taps, then does not react to the stylus. I have tried both a soft and a hard reset but no avail. The battery is fully charged and the problem persists even if the 4700 is connected to the mains. It has been suggested that I remove the battery and perform a full battery drain before recharging and trying again but I don't know how to perform the battery drain. Any ideas please?
I fixed the stylus no-responce problem - just realigning the screen as it is described in Manual (see part 1)

Ok I fixed mine! Nothing too exotic or technical - I cleaned the screen! Used a spray of notebook screen cleaner and gently rubbed (which helped) then took a sheet of paper and cleaned in around the edge of the screen, which seemed to fix it completely. The paper came out a bit grubby, so I guess there is a problem if you get dirt between the screen and the casing. Mine is a s/h reconditioned unit, and probably a couple of years old, so this may have been an accumulation over that time. Anyway it now works fine after a month of thinking I would have to bin it (as I haven't been able to find anybody remotely interested in taking it into a workshop on the continent!

When was the last time you performed the screen adjustment? Also, if you have a lot of programs running in the background, the screen will stop responding due to the memory being used up.
To check for programs running:
start / settings / system / memory icon / running programs.

Just disable the settings where it says to turn off the backlight & PDA power after certain minutes and set your standby time (in power battery setting) to 0, then leave your PDA on until it fully drains (usually a week or two).
