Goe to the setup menu and turn off closed caption.Does it do this on all inputs. Closed caption is only on rf input as far as the tv is concered. If this is happening on input which is connected to cable box or sat reciever call your serv provider.

Hi, The proper resolution would be 1024 x 768 at a refresh rate of 60Hz, you can look in the manual ----> here <---- if you need any more information, I found the above on page 23 of the manual.

If you turn the TV to an HD channel and get a black screen wth audio, then your reciever isn't HD capable. Check with service provider to make sure they got you an HD box.

Check your closed-caption settings and make sure you have captioning turned off. You probably have it set for "text" mode now, and this causes the black box on some channels and programs. The TV is clearing the area where the text would be displayed, but there's no text. Most TV remotes have a single button to access caption settings, and it's easy to change the settings without knowing it. Then you're stuck with the mysterious black box.

Open the document feeder and look for debris on the scanner glass.

Brother Tech-Support told me to leave it unplugged over-night. I unplugged mine ant 12:00 pm and plugged it in at 9:00 am the next day and it still didn't work, maybe you have to leave it unplugged longer, try 24hrs.
