Re: Hard disk suopport
If u try to install server console so follow the instruction:
Go to the server console; or Rconsole if you're remote; from the prompt type in load install. Then arrow down to license options; put the floppy in and hit enter. It will find it from there.
If you are remote, copy the server.mls file from the floppy up to the server's sys:system. Then after you've selected license options; hit f3 and type sys:system; enter.
to verify the license were added go back to the console prompt and type in versions.
Have a good one. :)

SATA HARD DRIVE ? XP INSTALLATION The problem is that XP installation CD does not have a SATA driver, unless you have a SATA drive on a disk etc. and can install the driver when XP asks for a hard drive driver then, XP cannot detect the hard disk and therefore won't install XP. The FIX. Go into the BIOS and disable the SATA drive (enable IDE emulation), this will make XP think it is a IDE/PATA hard disk. Then you can install XP normally. When Windows has been installed then install all the device drivers (including the SATA driver), then shut down and boot up and got into the BIOS and enable the SATA drive. If enabling the SATA in the BIOS does not allow the computer to boot up with SATA hard drive then change the BIOS back to what it was previously.
You must have latest Windows Xp CD .
Latest Motherboard chipset does not recognise hard disk without proper sata raid or sata driver. So you can install sata driver if u have USB floppy drive by downloading latest Sata raid to floppy. At the time of installation you will see a message press f6 to if u need to install raid driver.then press f6 asking for floppy drive and floppy insert press enter to continue.
Your laptop probably has SATA hard disk installed in it. You will need to install from an XP SP2 or later CD for native SATA support. Otherwise you will need to get the SATA drivers for the chipset being used on the laptop and slipstream them onto a new bootable CD or go through the process of adding the drivers manually during the initial phase of the installation.
The reason it is showing "no hard disk" is because you have a SATA hard drive, and there is no SATA support on the WS2003 software, so it doesn't even "see" the drive when trying to install.
What you can do is download SATA drivers for your hard drive to your machine. Once downloaded and/or extracted, restart the installation but choose F6 to load "SCSI or 3rd party drivers", then point to the downloaded drivers.
Your installation will then load the SATA drivers, thereby recognizing the hard drive and you'll be able to successfully install Windows.
Sounds like you need your manufacturer's SATA drivers.
This problem exists a lot when installing Windows from scratch on SATA hard disks. When you start the installation, Windows prompts you to "load additional drivers". It's at this point you put a floppy disk with the SATA drivers in.
If your install is already working, but just stopped as you say... then you could hunt around the BIOS for a SATA "compatibility" mode, which will get you booting straight away. Install the SATA drivers and you can then put the drive back into normal operation instead of compatibility mode.
This is also the reason why your other hard disk with Windows can see the SATA disk and optical drive... it probably has the SATA drivers installed.
