i accidentally knocked over my hard drive while it was playing back video. now it acts like it is going to start, but then it just freezes up. there is irreplaceable material on it. any advice?

Moving hard drives while the magnetic pin is moving may have damaged or dislodged the magnetic pin. If you have irreplaceable material in it I suggest that you contact an expert on data retrieval. If your hard drive is still in warranty, contact the manufacturer if they have data extraction options.
