Looking at the specs of your notebook, it says you should have 3gb ram already, this machine can only support up to 4gb max. A couple of things to consider here, even if you install the maximum amount of memory Vista/XP 32 bit systems will not see it all due to the constraints of the operating system and it will limit the ram to around 3gb anyway so no need to upgrade. On the other hand if you have Vista/XP 64bit edition then no problem it'll use the whole 4gb ram.
To upgrade you will need a SoDimm 2gb DDR II SDRAM, 667 MHz module, on the bottom of the notebook you will need to remove the panel usually secured by 4 screws to gain access to the memory slots, you probably have a 1 and 2 gb modules already so it'll mean removing the 1gb chip and discarding it as you only have 2 memory slots so you can fit the new 2gb module.

I have a Gateway M465-e laptop. The hard drive is detected in the BIOS and works fine on another computer. The hard drive will not detect when installing Windows XP with a Gateway disk: ''Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer.'' The battery on it was dead until I plugged in the power adapter. Any ideas?

corrupt bios on acer aspire 5535. i know the proceedure for force flashing acer machines, unfortunatly in there infinite wisdom acer have modified almost all the native firmwares of the hardware they use, including the bios, meaning a standard phoenix recovery doesnt work. whats required is to create a bootable usb drive with a FAT filetable, the flashit.exe acer provide and the new bios. the problem is that the bios filename must be specific to that model, and there are no instructions on how to name it... IE, for the acer one the file name is Z5GIA32.FD the Z5G refers to the model, the 32 i presume to the bit rate of the cpu. whats the IA???
