SOURCE: when i clean up the toner tank and put a new toner
If the cartridges are not empty ..you do not have to change them ...just shake them well from time to time ..and clean the developer and the print head..so that they will function proper..
Only when the printer shows low ink ..you have to change them ...or if they are still full ..just reset the printer to reset the ink counter ..
If the reset is not specified in the manual ..try this..but only in case the other would not work ..
"To reset the nvram (this holds the
control panel settings..."
Need to know the exact model of Xerox you have to let you know one way or the other. You could also try calling Xerox technical support if you like.
You should have limited access to the control panel menus as they cannot all be locked out, just critical system areas.
Before resetting NVRAM, print the Configuration Sheet if possible, to obtain a record of the printer's settings.
1. To reset the NVRAM (this holds the control panel settings), turn off the printer.
2. Press and hold the On Line (0) and Enter (4) buttons, and turn on the printer.
Keep the On Line (0) and Enter (4) buttons depressed until the message
"Initializing...Please Wait" appears on display (this takes about one
minute).
3. Release the On Line (0) and Enter (4) buttons and wait for the front panel to display "Ready." This takes about 45 seconds.
4. Press the Menu Up (1) button until the Reset Menu is displayed.
5. Press the Item Up (2) button until Factory Defaults is displayed.
6. Press the Value Up (3) button to display the choices. To actually reset the factory defaults you would select "Yes."
Best of luck.
