In my pc when i download yahoo messenger it is not at all installed why?

After you download the installation file from Yahoo! you need to double-click the file to start the installation. From there you simply follow the prompts until the installation is finished.

If you are doing this and the program is not showing up any where on your system, try the following.
1)Go to the Control Panel then Programs(or Add/remove Programs in XP). If Yahoo! IM is listed there then it did install.
Next, check the Start menu to see if Yahoo! IM is listed under Programs(All Programs in XP).

2)Verify you're download the correct installation for your operating system and verify your computer meets the minimum requirements for Yahoo! IM.
3)Reboot your computer then try the installation again.

    Lost my contact list

At the top of your friends list window click on Contacts and make sure the "show offline contacts" is checked, this will make your friends show on your list whether they are online or offline. After checking this and none of them still show up on your list then you have an internal problem with messenger and you need to uninstall messenger Completely so you can get rid of the corrupted file that is causing your problem and get a clean install. When you uninstall not all of the yahoo messenger files are deleted from your Program Files, so if the problem you are having is caused by a corrupted file then the problem will still be there when you install it again. So what you need to do is uninstall messenger then go to your Program files and delete the yahoo folder. This will get rid of all remaining files especially the corrupted ones.

To uninstall you need to click on the Start button(the one on your task bar) then go to Control Panel then to Add/Remove Programs, find yahoo messenger in the list and click on it then on uninstall.<< this is for XPTo uninstall in Vista click on start then Control Panel then on Uninstall a Program in the new window find yahoo messenger click it to uninstall it.To find and delete the Yahoo folder click on the START button in your task bar then on My Computer then C: drive then Program Files then right click on the Yahoo folder and Delete it. It's a good idea tI do recommend you get the version as it is the most stable a bug free version of messenger !!

When you download it just save it to your desktop and then run the installer from there. If you have XP just double click on it to start the install. To install messenger on Vista you need to download messenger to your desktop. Then Right click on the installer and then click on "Run as Administrator" to get it to install will not lose your contacts by uninstalling messenger as they are saved on the yahoo servers.o reboot your PC now to make sure it's all gone out of your system.

    Fixing a corrupted yahoo messenger.exe

·If you have a corrupt file in your Yahoo! Messenger directory.

To fix the problem, you must manually delete the "Messenger" directory on your C: drive (default), then reinstall the Yahoo! Messenger application.

All archives will be deleted if they are not copied. If you have a Flash drive copy it. If none, copy them like this:

CLOSE Yahoo! Messenger (if it is currently running).

Go to your Desktop and double-click "My Computer."

    Select the "C:" drive.

    Go to: C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Messenger\Profiles

Your "Profiles" folder contains your complete Message Archive. Copy it to the a different folder on your computer and RENAME IT AND save..

Now you can DELETE the Yahoo Messenger by deleting the directory:

CLOSE the Yahoo! Messenger application if you currently have it running. Make sure all instances of Internet Explorer are CLOSED.

Go to your desktop and double-click "My Computer."

    Click the "C:" drive.

    Go to C:\Program Files\Yahoo!

Highlight the Yahoo! Messenger folder and press the Delete key on your keyboard.

DEFRAG your computer files to remove those empty spaces resulting from the deletion.

CLOSE all running applications EXCEPT for your Internet browser.

DISABLE YOUR ANTI VIRUS/ANTI SPY PROGRAM/S. Most times they interfere in the downloading/installation process.

Click the link below to download Yahoo Messenger…

    Click the "Download Now" button.

Double-click the Yahoo Messenger executable once the download completes to begin the installation process.

Go to your Desktop and double-click "My Computer."

    Select the "C:" drive.

    Go to: C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Messenger\Profiles

Drag/drop the copy of your Message Archive to the NEW Yahoo Messenger folder\Yahoo\Messenger\Profiles.

    What browser are you using?
If you are using Firefox and windows vista than the file is downloaded to your downloads folder under your user folder.
In past versions, downloaded files were saved on your desktop and this is not the case anymore.

Look in your "downloads" folder, the icon will be there.
