Remove the bulbs from the doors to stop the battery from going flat then check all the door light switches as it sounds like you have a switch that is still allowing the power to get through to the lights hope this helps

Check all doors for a sticking door open sense switch. Check all over-riding interior light activation switches are off. If all the above are ok, check for a sticking interior light relay.

Battery drains

Assume you mean drains of power not fluid. Does battery light show on dash with engine running. Make sure that the alternator drive belt is correctly tensioned (longest side betwen pullys move 1/2" up/down). If it takes a few days to loose charge temp fix is to use a solar battery charger that can charge battery when car is parked. Hope this helps.

I have a 1996 Dodge intrepid and the interior lights stay on how do I fix this?

Test your door switches. You'll see them where door closes against them ( push switch ) at door post. Sometimes testing one door at a time by opening door and pushing in hard by hand will turn light out, if defective one not found that way, you'll have to remove and test one at a time. I'd start with drivers door first.

The dash lights stay on, drain my battery, after having it jumped my car wont turn off while the key is out of the ignition until i open the driver door then the engine cuts off. but my dash lights glow...

if the key is out, and turned off, is key in off posistion (look)
if off and you have current drain, that is a problem.
your post is confusing, (car wont turn off, what does that mean)
engine stays running, or just lamps stick one,
be clear what sticks on, and we can fix this easy.
im a retired, ET, we can do this step by step.

if the engine stick on , key off, the ignition switch is bad. period.
and grossly unsafe condition ,if ever.

Courtesy lights stay on after the door has been closed on my 98 LeSabre. What is the cause of that and can I remove the fuse to get the lights off so the battery isn't drained?

Hi Dennis,

Your courtesy lights are controlled by your Body Control Module (BCM). Normal operation is for the courtesy lights to stay on for 2-3 minutes after the door is closed, then turn off.If they stay on longer than about 3 minutes, then there are several possible causes:

1. You may have the "courtesy lamp override switch" in the overide position in the dimmer control on the dash.

2. you may have a door that is not completely closed. You need to check ALL of them.

3. You could have a defective door switch or dimmer control switch

4. you could have a short to ground in one of the door control switch circuits, causing the BCM to "think" that there is a door open.

The CORRECT way to fix this would be to scan your BCM for fault codes and also read the BCM data to find out if it is showing one of the doors as being open when they clearly are not, so you will know which door is causing the problem.

Removing the courtesy lamp fuse will NOT completely fix the battery drain problem if these circuits are shorted or malfunctioning because the BCM will STILL be "trying" to turn these lights on and this will also cause an excessive draw on your battery. However, removing the 15 Amp fuse marked "CTSY LMP/MIRROR" located in the instrument panel fuse block will get the lights turned off and at least slow down how fast your battery is draining.

On my mazda rx8 04 theres a car light with a key in the middle that stays on and the door light stays on also. the car does not even start anymore because im guessing it consumed all the battery . how can...

That is the door switch it drain the battery so here the solution either you replace the door jump swicth to turn off the light or disable the switch mean that you wont have light when you open the door especially at night the fix screw it out and get a replace ment the second fix screw it out take it out of it terminal and leave it out
