BSNL DATA CARD SPEED PROBLEM

I use DATA card for last 1 month. I lived in kolkata. When i buy it they said it give speed upto 144kbps. But I never see it speed goes beyond 40-50 kbps. And its download speed is morre horrible. It gives only 6-7 kbps. Can ne one know how can I increase my net speed. Or it is usual for this cannection. Then I will leave this connection.

hi
i have the same problem in kolkata. i used it since march,2009. i think bsnl data card in IX connection is worst ever in the world. you never ever get more than 7-8 kbps in download speed. u can used IDM, it can improve ur download speed but still in 10-12 kbps.
