There is a service menu adjustment. I have seen several of these sets with bad components in the horizontal width control circuit. maybe your other set has a width problem. put both on the same channel. like cnn with the ticker on the bottom. what is the difference in size? the width adj. procedure is: with the set off. use the remote, enter. MENU>5>VOL+>POWER . the set will come on in the service mode. then with the menu adj. buttons you can step threw the service menu to H.WIDTH adj. until full picture. also VERT. HEIGHT. when you are done adjusting make sure you press the mute button and watch the word WRITE flash from green to red or you won't save your adjustments.
Timm,What you have Is Vert Failure,Toshiba is Noted for Bad Conns On the Vert Ic,Pull the Back off and Gently tap with a NonConductive Inturment and watch the Sceen Look for Heatsinks and Tap on those,If you know,or you caqn solder do so ,Do run the tv for a long time with no Vert or it will Cause BURN IN in the Phophurus
you have a vert sweep problem. Probably the vertical output Ic the B+ going to the vert out IC or in rare cases the deflection yolk could be bad but not likly.
You dont have enough vertical sweep!! Best thing to check is the vert output device and I think its an IC . BUT before that check the b+ going to that device and see if its low. I will run through a silicon diode right next to the ic. Measure both sides of the diode and if theres a big voltage drop then the diodes bad. Now also these sets are common for the b+ filter cap off thge flyback transformer. Its the voltage line that feeds that diode and the vert output section. Now measure all caps out of cucuit as most will measure good if you dont. Also just for giggles right nrxt to the big IC that has the vert ,horizontal video and sound drive there is if im not mistaking the vert parts start with c4-- or the ic will be ic4-- Its a small cap that will sayc4-- attached to nothing but the ground and one pin of the ic. I've seen this cap cause all sorts of vert problems in the past as its the vert waveshaper capacitor for the vert osc/drive. Good Luck
