Re: memory card error powershot Sd800 IS

Take out your memory card from the camera and then inspect a small or tiny switch. This is the card lock. You need to move it the other way around to enable write back on the memory card.

Hope this helps you out.

Cannon s5is powershot as soon as i turn camera on a memory card error comes up and theres no card in it, does same thing when card inserted. it's got to be something in the camera slot, is there a lock in...

On the SD card there is a little switch you can move. It has 2 positions, LOCKED, and UNLOCKED. To make the card available, put the switch in the UNLOCKED position.
Here is an example-

If that doesn't work, try putting the card into a memory card reader, like on your PC or a special USB attachment. If the memory card is recognized, then it might be a problem with your camera.

Memory card error with new memory card

Hi there, welcome to FixYa.

Let's work on the camera first.
1) Turn the camera off and remove the battery and the card.
2) Put the battery back in without the card and turn it on.
3) Turn the camera off and insert the CF card.
4) Turn the camera back on again.
See if that takes the message away.

If it doesn't leave me a comment and we go to step 2.
If it does, thanks for coming to FixYa.

Getting memory card error

Some cameras require a new Firmware update of it's internal brain so it can recognize larger capacity memory cards. Check out your cameras website, look up the FAQ column or support and see which memory card sizes are compatible.... Good luck

Camera will not power on with a memory card installed.

1. Try another memory card and contact the memory card manufacturer 2. The PowerShot SD630 requires repair service.

Memory card error with new Canon PS A590.

My PowerShot SD800 IS reports "memory card error" and does not want to do anything. However my PC could read most of the pictures with the Dynex reader. Some pictures were not readable, some corrupted. I have the 2 GB card reformatted. The PC has no problem with it, but the camera still reports the error message and is not doing anything.
What is the magic problem?
