You need to get someone to do a code-read with a transmission capable scanner (transmission shop) You probably have a bad EPC (electronic pressure control) causing the transmission to slip, therefore setting a p1811 code (max adapt/long shift) which will max out the line pressure making your shifts very firm (but stopping the slipping/delayed shifts...this is a fail safe mode designed to keep your transmission from slipping until you address the underlying cause)

1992 F150 shifts real hard...transmission sometimes won't engage...checked all fuses...replaced shifting sensor on tranny... mechanic says he thinks its the instrument cluster ?

are the bolts connecting the transmission to the engine tight? Check the engine mounts as well. if the engine is sliding around on broken mounts and cause trouble with transmission...

What did they check on the tranny to say that it's fine? Did that come with removing it and doing a rebuild? Or changing the fluids? Good luck! Nice thing, lots of f150's around from that time period still in scrap locations. Probably can get parts fairly cheaply, rebuilt or aftermarket...

I don't know why he's saying the instrument cluster...

Transmission

Did it do it under hard acceleration? or just a normal take off. I have heard of engine mounts or tranny mount bushings getting old (not mileage old but just aging) causing a thump or clunking sound in between shifting. What happens is the tranny actually hits the undercarriage of the vehicle during high torque situations such as shifting gears. I have also seen the mount retaining nut back off of the mounts and the only thing holding everything in place is gravity. Another possibility is drive shaft u-joint problems, but if it were it would probably be making the noise more often. I dont think there is actually anything wrong with the transmission itself as usually when they go bad they dont magically get better. Hope this helps. Good luck!

When driving the truck tends to rev way higher than normal, when you are at a stop and then try to go depending on how hard you hit the gas it will bog down almost dying, or die. also when you are driving...

sounds like your torque converter going bad. change the tranny fluid, and look for metal shavings (have a pro do this), sometimes you can squeeze enough life out of a bad tranny/torque converter by changing the fluid, or it might just be a clogged tranny filter. change the fluid, and if theres metal shavings in it, sell it while it still runs.

Vehicle will not shift into overdrive

THIS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH OLD FLUID IN THE TRANS IT WILL DO THIS IS ONE THING ALSO IT KEEPS SHIFING IN AN OUT OF OVER DRIVE AT 55 MPH TAKE IT TO THE OIL CHANGE SHOP HAVE THEM CHANGE THE TRANNY FLUID AND THAT TOOK CARE OF IT SHIFTING IN AN OUT OF OD .. TRANNY FLUID SHOULD BE CHANGED EVERY 80K MILES BUT NO ONE EVER DOSE THIS IT IS 10 WEIGHT OIL AND IF IT LOSES ITS VISCOSITY IT WILL NOT FLOW RIGHT THRU TRANNY AND OVER DRIVE IS HARD TO GET IT IS A LOCK UP COVERTER ON THIS BLAZER FOR OVER DRIVE .. SO CHANGE THE FLUID AND ADD LUCAS TRANNY FLUID CONDITIONER THIS WORKS ABOUT 60 % TO 70% OF THE TIME I HOPE THIS WORKS FOR YOU OH BY THE WAY DON'T LET THEM TALK YOU INTO A FILTER CHANGE JUST MORE EXSPENSE RIGHT NOW IF THIS WORKS YOU WIL HAVE OVER DRIVE WHEN YOU LEAVE THE OIL CHANGE SHOP LOL POHLCAT

My 2004 chevy Malibu 2.2L automatic started making this banging noise everytime I shift from P to R or D. It also jerks when i shift. Then it also makes a bang noise and it jerks real hard when shifting...

First change tranny fluid and filter. Check the tranny mounts and motor mounts. The GM's also have an automatic torque converter clutch circuit that can cause problems just like this.

Transmission wont shift into gear unless i turn

Ford Explorers are nice, but are commonly known for the trannsmssion to fail, I know becuase I know of people who also went through this tranny problem, Get it fixed and install a new tranny cool, heat is the number one cause for failure. I personally wouldn't get a Explorer from other peoples experiences.

You need to bring it in for a transmission inspection/overhaul. The bands are not catching, and the fliud is turning black because it its burning up and iverheating.
