I have a problem and I was searching the net and seems tht this is a problem that affect quite lot of people and no one seem to know what´s causing it.My problem is only when I play games like assassins creed and splinter cell and devil may cry my monitor´s going to sleep. My pc has a very good hardware since I have it for games and I play fallout 3 and oblivion and I already played tomb raider underworld with graphic options on top and seems ok but there are games that in the middle the monitor goes to sleep mode.I already tried everything, change the power options in every options possibles and I realy can´t find the problem I tried with another monitor and it lasts logner than mine but still goes to sleep mode and since it lasts more than hp I think it´s a monitor problem maybe a pc software conflicting with the monitor I don´t know I realy tried everything so pelase if anyone knows how to solve this please...thanks for your time and sorry my inglish
Not sure which windows you are using but on my Vista there is also a setting for power saving on the PCI Express video card. Have you tried changing that setting. Not sure if that would be the problem but worth a try. Mine is set for maximum power saving but it hasn't turned off on me except while watchng a video. I haven't played a game so don't know if it affects games. It's under advance power settings \ PCI express \ Link state power managment. Turn it to Off and see what happens.
I am guessing you are playing games with a joystick because using a mouse or keys would probably stop the computer turning off the screen. Is there a setting under your game controller preferences for power saving?
You might also have a seperate control panel that installed with your video card that lets you change settings outside of Windows. I have Nvidia Control Panel on mine you might have something else. Maybe you can change something there as well.

Monitor flickers when starting up; flickering is particularly noticeable when streaming videos; and there is a black boarder running on top of screen -- getting larger; chatted with HP -- suggested that a health check be performed on video card (loaded on motherboard) -- PASSED -- determined that it was a monitor malfunction and that I should purchase a new monitor (?; the monitor was purchased 12 mos ago (entire PC package) -- can this problem be repaired or should I indeed purchase a new monitor? Thank you.

Having the same "going black" problem with my HP w 1907 after about a year. Can anyone tell me if they found it to be their computer or the monitor before I spend unnecessary money trying to figure it out.
