10 yr old GE side by side: freezer is leaking

10 yr old GE side by side: freezer is leaking water daily, from bottom. There is a large amount of ice built up in bottom of freezer. Leak seems to be coming from inside and accumulating in bottom, then running out from underneath the freezer door and onto my tile floor (which now has a warped sub-floor that needs to be repaird!) Can you please help me? - Single Mom, Frederick, MD

Your drain is frozen up and so every time unit goes into defrost the water refreezes in the freezer's bottom. You either have to shut fridge off completely and let it dethaw or use hot water and an ice pick to hurry up the process. The drain is located in the very back of freezer. You will have to pull out the bottom drawer to see it. Good luck

Ge profile refrigerator model number tfx30pry

Hi,

You have a clogged drain system in the freezer, as the unit will defrost daily, the water can't leave the freezer properly and the water collects. You need to de-ice the freezer and clean out the drain tube at the bottom of the freezer section under the evaporator. Good Luck

GE Freezer Leaking

Open the freezer door, remove the bottom tray, smash the ice on the floor with your fist to remove it. Now get a glass of hot water and pour it into the trough which is at the bottom of the back wall of the freezer. Allow a few minutes for the ice to melt then remove it with an ice pick or scrrewdriver. Once the ice is out, pour more hot water into the trough. Now take a long tube ( an old washer fill hose works perfectly) and stick one end in the hole in the trough. Now fill your mouth with warm water and blow it very hard through the tube. Once the drain is clear, pour some hot water and a very little amount of bleach through the hole.

Water inside bottom of freezer.

Water accumulation in the freezer more commonly points to the ice maker. Over a period of time, water entering the ice maker can slowly freeze to the point it provides a small restriction and prevents a portion of the water from entering the ice maker. The plastic spout/tube could also have either cracked or shifted and is allowing a small amount of water to leak into the freezer.

Icemaker making too much ice & Freezer frosting up.

Hi gpss,
It sounds like you are getting large amounts of warm moist air into the freezer. This can be caused by the door being left cracked open or the door seal not sealing properly. Check your door gaskets on both sides of the refrigerator. One other possible is the ice chute. If it is not closing all the way it will cause the same problem. You will get alot of frost forming in the freezer then it will melt when the refrigerator defrosts. Let me know if this helps, and if you have anymore questions.
