Setting up I am trying to set my new x box 360 up through my surround sound system along with my Foxtel, at this stage, i can get sound, but no picture. and now i can't get Foxtel at all. Can someone please help me on this one. It probably sounds simple to someone out there, but i'm a technology gumby. I would read the instruction manual, but i don't know where it is. Please help.

Connect the sound outputs from all the satellite box and the xbox to the sound inputs on the back of the ht-4500. Do not connect the tv sound output to the ht. As an example of the connections see this:

I am having trouble getting my surround sound to output my foxtel dvd using standard av cords is there anywhere i can get a diagram

Hi, I'm not too sure what you're asking - do you mean that sound is only coming out of 2 of the speakers? A lot of foxtel shows aren't meant for surround sound - usually only box office movies.

For best results, use a digital optical cable (not the one with a round end, one that's fibre optic, say that to a store and they will give you the right one) - connect to the optical/toslink input of your surround sound system.

You may have to turn on "dolby pro logic 2" to get all speakers working on some shows. Or you can try just plugging in the 2 red/white stereo cables into the amp, and using pro logic that way. Pro logic creates surround sound, even when your show is only stereo.

I guess that will do it .

Have a nice day.

Not getting true surround sound

The only way to get Dolby 5.1 audio out of the Xbox will be via fiber optic cable from the Xbox to a Dolby Digital amplifier - which will output a decoded 5.1 signal to a 6 channel amplifier and 5 speakers and one sub-woofer. I doubt the Logitech speaker system has a Dolby 5.1 decoder built in with the amplifier for under $100, but I can't say for sure. If the Logitech has a an optical (or TOSLink) input, connect it to the Xbox and follow the instructions below.

To configure your audio settings, follow these steps:
  1. Start the Xbox 360 console without a disc in the disc tray.
  2. In the System section of the Xbox Dashboard, select Console Settings.
  3. In the Console Settings area, select Audio.
  4. In the Audio Settings area, configure settings for analog output or digital output:
    • Analog output settings:
      • Dolby Pro Logic II: Select this setting for stereo systems or Dolby Pro Logic II-compatible systems.
      • Mono: Select this setting for systems that do not support stereo output. Note If you have connected to Xbox LIVE and downloaded any AutoUpdates, the Mono option will not be available.
    • Digital output settings:
      • Digital Stereo: Select this setting to use digital stereo output.
      • Dolby Digital 5.1: Select this setting to use Dolby Digital output.
      • Enable WMA Pro: Select this setting to enable WMA Pro pass-through if your receiver supports the WMA Pro format.
Note You must use one of the following cables to support digital output:
  • Xbox 360 Component HD AV Cable
  • VGA HD AV cable
  • S-video AV cable
  • Advanced SCART AV cable
  • Japanese HDAV D-connector AV cable

LG DvD Reciever (LH-T550) issue (Xbox 360/ TV sound)

I dont know about a universal remote my friend but a remote is defo needed to ajust and alter sound settings , I have the same system and it can not be done with the reciever alone. The AUX button on the remote has to be activated to get sound thru LG speakers providing your game console is connected to your TV, then a set of audio cables from your TV via the (OUT) ports (this is a must) back into you LG reciever. Goodluck

Sound Problems with HD TV

This seems to be a problem that has to do with your HDMI audio output.
First check in your TV setting if audio out is selected on your correct HDMI port. Than check if your receiver is able to receive audio via HDMI (i assume you used the HDMI connection). Some receivers have HDMI IN connections but are not able to receive audio on it, the latest receivers/sets do have this feature. If your receiver doesnot support audio IN via HDMI you can only do one thing, connect the stereo audio-out of your TV to an AUX IN connection on your receiver.

Can't get XBOX 360 to have audio through surround sound speaker

Make sure that you have the RC Cables (red and white) plugged into the audio ports that coincides with the component video inputs. If that wont work then try plugging the audio and video cables into the inputs for the satellite, since that works. That way you can isolate the issue. If it still wont work try using the XBOX 360 HDMI cable. That has both audio and video.
