It could meen it can not find hdd,or can not find its windows.
or its trying to boot from its cd,dvd rom.or your second hdd if you have one.
if it lets you boot from safe mode then you can go and set it to boot from its main windows device.
or on the same screen as safe mode see if it will let you pick repair widows.or it might let you boot from your harddrive that has your windows on.

If your system is still under warranty, take it back to the supplier if not then your nearest pc repair centre. Sounds to me like your HDD is going. This is rather unusual considering most of them are SSDs but some do have 1.8" ZIF drives in.

SOURCE: when i turn my acer

Hi
It looks as though the laptop is not recognising the hard drive, there is no hard drive fitted or there is a hard drive but the OS boot record has been wiped ( I know this sounds obvious but some people buy these 2nd hand only to find the hard drive was removed)

You need to check the hard drive is present by booting to the bios screen it should "see" the hard drive attached. If it is present, then you have a problem with the OS or a damaged hard drive. I think its DEL or F2 or F10 to access the bios, not certain.

At this point, you need to attempt to reinstall the OS, as this does not have an optical drive, you will need to obtain a USB Optical drive, go into the bios and see that it is recognised as a boot device. Do not worry about setting the boot order, the Bios will locate the rom as a boot device.

Attempt a start up repair, ie: wait until the installer looks for a previous installation of windows (if one exists) then allow it to install a repair installation. If it does NOT find this, you will need to doa full install. If at this point you have files you need recovering, a strip down of the netbook and removal of the hard drive will be necessary. You simply then get someone with a computer to jumper your hard drive as a slave and recover the files you need, as a full install requires the hard drive to be fully wiped.

Replace the hard drive after you have done this and proceed with the full reinstall

You can use a USB boot device, but to do this you will need to have access to another computer to make the boot installer:

My toshiba is saying no bootable device?

Hmm.. This seems to be an issue with the Hard drive. If you have a restore CD/DVD you could try to restore your system to the factory settings just and check if the problem goes away. If not, you need to get the systems hard drive replaced. You will loose all your data stored in the laptop. Please visit your nearest laptop service center and get the hard drive fixed.

No bootable device -- please restart system

THIS IS A BIOS CONFIGURATION ISSUE. WHEN YOU RESTART THE 'PUTER, HIT F2 OR F12 TO ENTER SYSTEM CONFIGURATION. THEN FIND THE MENU ITEM FOR HARD DRIVES AND MAKE SURE THEY ARE RECOGNIZED / PRESENT ON THIS BIOS CONFIG. SCREEN. SET THE HD TO PRIMARY. SAVE/QUIT AND RESTART. THIS IS A STARTING POINT FOR FURTHER DIAGNOSIS. YOU MAY HAVE TO 'DBAN' THE DRIVE.

No bootable device found

The Hard Drive is not starting up. You can check the Hard Drive and detach/re-attach. If it's a HDD failure, you will need to replace it.
The other issue could be HDD controller on the motherboard.
90%of the time it's a HDD failure.

No bootable device please restart system on toshiba netbook

Hello,
It could be that your harddrive is defective or the boot sequence was set to boot to CD or other bootable device. Go to Bios and reset the settings.

I have an image file ''win 7'' downloadedit, i want to burn it in DVD bootable to install in my pc, i have tried with nero, magic iso, imgburn but when i restart my pc, it doesn't start from cd and i can...

Ignoring the suspicion that any "downloaded" image of Windows 7 probably is a "bootleg" copy of copyrighted software ......................

Restart your computer, and immediately press DEL to enter BIOS SETUP mode.
Reconfigure your "boot devices" to make the CD/DVD reader the *FIRST* bootable device.
Save the updated configuration, and reboot with the disk inserted into the reader.

Or, try the disk on another computer.
