Search for "windows recorder" in the start menu

Testimonial: "Wiondows 8 doesn't have a start menu, but I found the Windows recorder .... and it is moderately useful to record a conversation. But I was looking to import higher quality sound from my amplifier so as to make a CD out of an old cassette tape ... I have used the output jack on the amplifier to the "input" jack (mic) on a computer before. This machine has a built in mic and a combined audio jack (headphone)."

SOURCE: Dell Inspiron 6000 PC Audio Ports Damaged

You should have sound from the speakers at all times until headphones are plugged into the jack, the jack then overrides the speakers and allows you to listen using the headphones. If the speakers aren't working, it's because they're being overridden by the damaged jack. The only way to correct this is to replace the faulty jacks. You could get a set of external speakers, the con is they're bulky and inconvenient.

SOURCE: No sound at laptop speaker but audio output is ok

I have lenovo notepad 3000n100 with winXP sp2.
I downloaded realtek audio from ibm site and installed.
Now sound is coming at my output port but the in-built laptop speaker is not giving any sound output.
The hardware is ok as the sound was coming at in-built speaker before formatting. The previous audio driver set up file i have lost.
Plz help.

Can I connect my I phone to play music?

If your phone has a stereo headphone jack, you could use a headphone-to-RCA plug adapter cord to plug your phone into the auxilliary input port on your stereo receiver. I'm not sure what kind of sound quality you'd get - it depends on the impedances of the jack and the port, among other things - but it should provide at least a basic service. Of course, there are also stereo devices specifically built to boost phone output as well.

Can I make a USB port out of my laptop plug into an AC input on the Bose Series II Sound Dock so I can play music from my laptop?

What you want to do won;t work and can damage your laptop and or Bose.
If you want to play sounds from your laptop to your Bose, you need to plug an audio lead from the headphone socket on your laptop and connect the other end of this audio lead into the audio input on your Bose Sound Deck (if it has an Aux input).

No sound

Only _some_ LCD monitors have built-in speakers.

For those that do, you'll need a cable between the "audio-out" port on your computer's sound-card and the "audio-in" port on your LCD monitor, to transmit the sound. Of course, you'll have to turn-up the volume on the LCD's speakers, above zero percent.

Connecting new tv to DRA-685

you can use the headphone jack just get an adaptor to change from the headphone type to RCA type. adjust the volume of the tv to 3/4 of the way to give line level to the stereo, use an aux input on the stereo. if you had a suround sound dolby digital / DTS receiver then use the digital coax out to that type of receiver, but since you have an anolog 2 channel receiver you must use the only anolog source (the headphone).

Sound

Hey Riya Love,

If I understand you, the LG Combo doesn't transmit music to the speakers. If this is so, then you most probably forgot to connect a lead audio cable from the COMBO to the SOUND port inside your mother board. This cable is most probably still stuck onto the sound port, and the other end hanging loose inside waiting to be plugged intothe COMBO output port. This port is betweenthe power plug and the jumper ports on the COMBO.

Just open the case and do it Riya. Come back if it doesn't solve it.

Installed new monitor, lost my sound

If your previous monitor had built in speakers and your new monitor does not you are going to have to purchase new speakers. If your new lcd monitor has an audio input you can purcahse a sterio mini jack cable for under $10 at any store that sells computer stuff (circuit city, best buy, walmart, target, etc). Simply plug one end into your monitor and the other end into your computers audio output jack (usually color coded green). Now of course if that monitor does not have built in speakers your only option is to purcahse a set of speakers for the computer. These usually start at around $15.
