Clean mode temperatures remain on

When the circuit breaker is on = the oven is on clean (at least that's my best guess - the broiler comes on and the temperature seems to reach well above 450. When I open the door, it feels like I'm standing over a campfire.) When the circuit breaker is off = the oven is off. I can still use the stove top too. Is this something I can repair myself?

Self cleaning mode would lock the oven door. Sounds like the control board is bad.

SOURCE: Oven Door is locked and will not open

On many freestanding stoves the lock motor is located in the right rear (looking from the front) with a long rod connected to the lock. Pull or push the rod to move the lock to the open position..

SOURCE: No Bake; everything else works

Hi, When you put the oven on bake, can you see the ignitor glowing but get no flame?
Sound like the ignitor might be getting weak and not opening the gas valve. Please let me know if this sounds like the problem.
It is common for the ignitor to go bad. Even if it glows, it can be bad.
Please let me know if I can assist you further.

I have a Kenmore Elite model #790.75503207.

It sounds like there may be an issue with the heating element or temperature sensor in the main oven of your Kenmore Elite model #790.75503207. This is causing the oven to overheat and trip the circuit breaker. To fix the problem, you may need to have the oven serviced by a professional technician. They can inspect the heating element and temperature sensor and replace any parts that may be malfunctioning.
Also, you should check the wiring and connections inside the oven, also the thermostat or thermo limiter. If you don't feel comfortable doing this, it's best to call a professional technician to come out and take a look.
Keep in mind that attempting to repair an oven can be dangerous if you are not familiar with the proper procedures and safety precautions. It is recommended to consult the manufacturer's manual or contact the manufacturer's customer service for further assistance.

Whirlpool built in electric oven

The upper element is for broiling and should not come on until you tell it broil. If it is coming on as soon as you turn on the breaker then it sounds like the printed circuit control board is bad. There is a relay on the board that engages when you program in the broiler. The relay can be hard to find and may not be removable. My broiler would come on when I programmed in the bake mode, go into runaway heat, put up a F10 code, and shut off. I could not clear it until I programmed in the clean mode for 2 hours. Now it works great.

Jenn air wall oven, 18 years old, tried to clean, code f-8 came on, oven beeps, hit clear, beeping comes on in several minutes, and oven will unlock, have tuned circuit breaker off and back on, did not...

The oven remains locked when internal temperature is hot enough for the cleaning cycle. If it unlocks after the temperature comes back down, it seems to be working properly.

Broiler doesn't turn on completely

The top element should come on when Broiler is selected. If both ovens have a broiler mode, then look for something failed in the circuit for the broiler heating elements (it's unlikely both broiler elements would fail together.). If there is only 1 oven with a broiler, look for a failed broiler element.

GE oven, F2 message but fault is with broiler element staying on?

Hi there,

F2
Oven over temp - exceeded 590F with door in unlocked position or 990F with door locked - If actual temp condition occurred, look for welded relay contacts or high resistance connection or any cause in the oven temperature sensor circuit

F2
Note: Also see fan thermal switches - Indicates that oven is over temperature in one of the following modes within either a cooking or clean mode of operation.
· Control senses oven temperature above 650 degrees F with the door circuit in the unlock mode.
· Control senses oven temperature above 935 degrees F with the door in the locked mode.
· Stalled cooling fan or airflow problem.

· Look for welded relay contacts. (Heating elements on in off mode).
· Look for open thermal switch in lock motor circuit. Switch is normally closed and will open if area overheats due to fan not operating. Look for cause - fan thermal switch not closing, fan stalled, etc.
· Look for high resistance in the oven temperature sensor circuit due to high contact resistance (poor terminal crimp, deformed terminals, loose connection) or intermittent solder joint on control or intermittent oven temperature sensor.

Good Luck

Broiler won't turn off. Error code F-3

The broiler won't turn off even when you press the "Off/cancel" button? It sounds like the broiler control relay is stuck shut. The F3 code means the oven temperature sensor has failed, this probably happened because the oven got too hot when the broiler was stuck on. There is fail-safe thermal fuse that will blow if the oven gets too hot, so the oven won't melt down but you should leave the unit off so you don't blow the fuse.

To fix the relay, you will have to replace the oven control module. I think this is about $200 and not too hard to replace if you are somewhat handy. The temperature sensor is also serviceable, you can find parts at Appliance Parts Pros on the web. Hopefully you haven't thrown the range out yet, let me know if you need further assistance.

Broiler element not working

It's either the switch that supplys power to the broiler element or it's the element itself (probably the element itself). I'd go after that first as it's not that expensive.

It's not a thermostat because if it was, the bake element wouldn't work either. The broiler element is not supposed to come on except when in the broil mode or cleaning mode.
