Re: kenmore upright freezer.

Will need a little more information to assist you with answers. Will need the model number if available for you Kenmore and will usually be on inside Freezer/refrigerator door and near bottom. Will look like model #363.1234567 for example.
Now if it's not cooling at all, is the compressor running beneath the fridge? Is the condenser fan running that is below the freezer and near the compressor? Is the evaporator fan blowing air in the freezer section? Do you hear clicking noises in the compressor area and can you feel the compressor to see if you feel warm or hot to touch around its side and top? Can you tell me of any other things that you noticed before the refrigerator stopped working? Is the temp control digital or manual settings? Has the settings been changed since you turned the refrigerator off and then back on? Thanks, Sea Breeze

check and empty the drain pan, you should be able to gain access by removing the vent grill below the door if there is one. The pan is under the unit somewhere. There is also a drain tube, make sure its not blocked with ice.

Freezer is on and just stopped working

you might have a defrost problem. Frost free models have a heating element that is controlled by a timer to automatically defrost ice, defrost timer turns on defrost heating element every 12 hours to melt ice in freezer and allow good air flow.
You can test defrost element with an ohm meter(located inside freezer coils-will have two wires going to a plug connection), if OK replace defrost timer (located in various places depending on make and model

Ice build up in the bottom of my upright freezer

If it's a frost free model, it could be caused by a plugged defrost drain. Every time it goes through a defrost cycle the water is supposed to drain into the compressor compartment. You can defrost it by unplugging it for a day or two and then remove the panel covering the evaporator coil. You should be able to see the drain tray under the coil and find out whats blocking it.

Frost free freezer with ice in the bottom and water dipping off bottom door hinge

Frost Free Freezer have an automatic defrost, which is essentially a heating element which melts any ice. If your door seals are in poor condition or something is preventing the door from sealing the ambient air may be melting the ice more than the drain can accommodate. Check the drain in the bottom of the freezer. Humidity can also cause more water to accumulate, especially if the door seals are not sealing.

I have a Kenmore upright freezer-model LFFH2067DW2 -the red light has been on for at least 12 hours and the freezer is defrosting-water is leaking on the floor-there is a vent insidethe freezer and the...

I was made aware of your concern and would like to offer a few ideas you may want to consider. Water dripping down is not a leak during defrost condition as this would be the ice melting. Normally, there would be a drain hose specifically to channel the melted ice/water to a drainage system. The amount of water would then be proportional to the amount of ice melting as with the length of time to completely melt, drain away.

Perhaps you could check the filter/drain screen as well as the drain opening for any blockage/clogging. You could also try checking the same on the drain hose as well as for possible kinks. Additionally, there would be a sensor behind a boxy cover that triggers the system back into operation. If there is still melted ice/water inside the freezer, then the sensor would prevent the unit from turning on completely. You may want to check this sensor and verify that it is dry.

An exploded parts diagram would help you identify/locate the above mentioned parts.

Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.
