My Hitach 42V4210 has a light blue circle in the center of the picture. It is most apparent on blue and green backgrounds. If I am watching a black and white movie, you can always see a differently shaded circle are in the middle of the picture. Is it the bulb or do I have another problem? Thanks.

Re: Light Blue Circle in Center of the Screen
What you may have is a magnetism problem. I would suggest that you try deguassing the CRTs first before looking into replacing the CRTs. You can have a TV technician perform this for about $50.00 - $60.00.

The clown face you see is the cap that the repair man (clown) did not remove from the new optical block he/she installed. The optical Block will have to be either removed from the TV so that the cap can be removed OR a crafty individual could take the screws out from around the screen frame and mirror cover and pop it out using a broom handle with a wad of duck tape on the end. In any case, this is mistake that can easily happen (I have done it), but the picture should have been verified before it was returned to you. Make them fix it in your home. I hope this was helpful, best wishes.
I need to know what color you got the circle in because one of your lamps went out and needs to be repaired this circle is only going to get bigger an bigger and shall i go on? Easy fix buy the new one and have it put in around $90 bucks plus labor.
I have the same problem with blue haze that just spread out on model 55VS69A ,
tv is almost 2 years old. i called hitachi and they advised to call a local repair center to check the tv...they confirmed Optical Block (light engine ) replacement light engine cost $1400 and labour $400, so i called back hitachi and they said they will provide light engine and will have to pay labour!....this is not right paying out of pocket for a tv less than 2 years old....I am not sure if the issue will resurface again...more likely ....Hitachi is supposed to issue a recall or atleast like sony did to cover all cost for there defective TV's....I will NEVER buy hitach again.
The huge yellow circle is either your blue filter is burnt out (very common in Zenith DLP) or you LCD cube is bad. I would bet it is the blue filter. Zeniths DLPs have 3 color filters one blue (a pinkish color), one green (a grayish brown)and one red (it is red). For the bulb indicator I would check and make sure your lamp is seated to the ballast correctly. Just take it out and put it back in.
I have the same Hitachi CP-S860 and have found the problem is with the convergence on the left and right sides of the picture. The one I am working on has a bad ghosting problem also - you can really see the ghosting when the MENU is on the screen. The center convergence is OK. Following Pics show Circle / Cross pattern - 1st pic the red, green and blue are turned on - 2nd pic shows green and blue on only. I do not have the service manual for this set so I do not know the convergence procedure on this one. I have mostly been repairing NEC, Sanyo, Panasonic and Christie LCD & DLP Projectors.
