There are two small screws at the end of the brush roll on some of these. There is a bearing block recessed into the housing at a slight angle to help tension the belt, so it comes out at an angle as well. It often fills with grit and you must clean the grit out carefully without damaging the blocks or housing. Sometimes WD 40 helps is the area has any rust build up. Then work a large screwdriver under one end the brush for leverage being CAREFUL not to damage the brush housing. Do not soak with WD40 as it will also get into the brush roll bearings

Not normally a job for the lady of the house Doreen, or even the man of the house. There is nothing on the Genesis, but I did find some generic Electrolux videos.

Replace belt genesis upright

Turn vacuum upside down on flat surface, remove the 6-7 screws from the bottom of the power nozzle, lay it on it's side and pry on the two accessible internal tabs to pop top cap of the nozzle off to access the pn motor assembly. Lay flat on it's back again and remove the screws that hold the roller brush in, remove the roller brush, remove old belt, install new belt on brush roll and pn motor geared spindle, push brush roll back in place, replace screws and pn top and VOILA!..you're back in bidness! Hop that helps!

Electrolux Epic Series 6500 SR. The machine is 15 yr. old & is working beautifully. However, when operating it emits a terrible stink, like cat *****. I've changed bags & filters but no ch

You need to have the vacuum cleaned out. If you are good with tools, just remove the motor and fans assembly, take the fans off and wash them. Brush ALL dirt out of the housing and reassemble. Your Electrolux dealer can do this but it isn't cheap. I used to be the service manager for my area. Since it isn't under warranty, you can have ANY reliable vacuum cleaner shop give a good cleanout. NEVER put anything into the cleaner to make it smell good. Electrolux cleaners get their power by having a straight through suction. The air goes through the motor. Adding smelly things can crystallize onto the motor and burn it out.

Have electrolux upright hoover that only picks up when using the hose but have no idea how to get to the belt to replace it - help - jackie

I was not aware that hoover and electrolux merged if so you will probably need a phillips screwdriver turn the unit so you can see the roller remove all the screws that hold the cover to the base than take off the cover plate and check the belt if it needs replaced remove the old belt take off the roller by sliding it out of the slots put the belt on the shaft that is conected to the motor first than over the end of the roller where the belt should ride than you will need to pull the roller towards the front of the unit untill it slides into the slots on the side of the base put the side that dosent have the belt in first than replace the roller cover plate and the screws and you are ready to vacuum, Don the Vacuum Doctor Alb, N.M.

Electrolux upright vac

Belts can look ok, but after a short period stretch so they won't turn the brush roll under load, if you have never changed it, and if it is a flat belt, I would try a new one.
