Question about LG RU-44SZ61D 44" TV

1 Answer

No Picture, but sound for a minute, then shuts off

Before starting, Operation indicator is red (TV is in standby mode). When power button is pressed, Operation indicator flashes orange (as it should). After about a minute, Operation indicator turns green(as it should) and after a few more seconds the sound comes on, but no picture. After about a minute, the TV shuts off, the Operation indicator goes red, and the Lamp function light flashes red (Indicating a problem with the lamp or around it)for about 5 seconds then goes off. I replaced the bulb for the third time about 2 months ago. The Lamp indicator does not go orange which would indicate the lamp is nearing the end of it's life. The TV is a bit over 9 years old. I removed the bulb, and it looks fine (no haze, or cracking, etc.).

Replaced bulb with a new Osram original equipment bulb, and there is no change to operation.

SOURCE: Is my lamp out on my LG?

Most likely you can have 1 or 2 problems.
1! the light is busted and you will have to replace that. You might also need to check your cooler fan bearing as you indicate it makes noise.

How do I stop tv going on standby

hi Shaun.
How do I get my TV out of standby mode? Press the power button once. If the TV does not turn on, observe the LED indicator, usually located on the TV's lower front panel. If the LED indicator turned off after you pressed the power button once, it is in standby mode. Press the power button once again to exit standby and turn on the TV.31 Mar 2015

When i press the ON button the tv's red light just flashes and there is no picture or sound

In most cases the standby light might blink with different rapidity to indicate a fault relevant to the processor. It is possible that most of these indicate that there are errors in the processing section . Since there is a possible short or leak in the circuit the output driver section can take in huge current to trip the SMPS or from advice from the micro processor. Remove the power plugs and make sure that high voltage sections are discharged of the potential stored in capacitors. Look for visible signs of leak or of busted capacitors. Look for bulged capacitors or damaged components- burnt or busted. Use a multimeter to check the continuity or shorting in components, if so detach from circuit and test . If the voltage builds up and the set power ON and then shuts up then the suspected section must be checked in detail.

The processor must have the +5 voltage to the function properly , the +B and secondary voltages also must be checked to infer the fault. Trace with caution and in running through the signal path , circuit trail.

The remote control will not operate the TV when the TV is in the OFF mode (No LED lit on front bezel). To change the mode from OFF to STANDBY or ON, press the POWER button on the side of the TV. Once the POWER button is pressed, the LED will change to either red to indicate STANDBY or green to indicate ON, whichever mode the TV was in prior to being turned off with the TV POWER button.

By pressing the POWER button on the side of the TV, the mode will toggle from OFF to either STANDBY or ON. If the POWER button is pressed and then the LED on the bezel is red, the TV is in STANDBY mode and will need to be turned on using the remote control. If the POWER button is pressed and then the LED on the bezel is green, the TV is ON.

No picture or sound

On mine the indicator light is indicating that it is in STANDBY mode, which means it is OFF. Press the button again, which will turn off the light and now the tv is ON. Now merely press(possibly multiple times) SOURCE to find the correct source for your Cable/SAT and your good to go.

It does sound like a power supply problem but that can be misleading because a problem somewhere else in the TV can be "holding down" the power supply. This can usually be determined by using some isolation techniques.

Television Not Powering Up Intermittently

Hi Check the standby power supplies, then the run supplies, then the h-driver circuit, then the H.O.T and flyback circuit. And in general look for bad transistors, diodes, capacitors, resistors, faulty solder connections and etc. BE ADVICE!!! if you don't have any repair experience and electronics knowledge leave it. Take it to an experienced tech or a service shop. Good luck
