NumLock wont switch keypad on MS 3000 wirless keyboard

When loggin on I can use the Numeric keypad. Once in XP, I lose keypad functionality. NumLock ON, nothing, but with NumLock OFF I still have the Home, End, PgDn, etc. Have changed batteries, reset, and checked for SW update.
