What equals 48 ounces??

Hi Yesenia

There are a couple of possible answers, depending on whether you're talking about liquid ounces, or weight ounces.

For liquids, there are 8 fluid ounces in a kitchen '1 Cup' measuring cup. That means 48 fluid ounces are the same as 6 cups, 3 pints (2 cups per pint) , or 1-1/2 quarts (two pints per quart).

For weight, there are 16 ounces in a pound. (One fluid ounce of water also weighs one weight ounce, which is the basis of the adage 'A pint's a pound, the world around', since a pint is 16 fluid ounces, and 16 fluid ounces of water, or near-water like some beer, will then weigh a pound' ).. Anyhow, in this case, 16 goes 3 times into 48 ounces, so it will weigh 3 pounds.

For metric, 2.2 pounds per kilogram, or 29.5735 milliliters per fluid ounce.

Cheers!

Technically - an ounce is 1/16th of a pound. 16 ounces in a pound - generally 28 grams but exact weight is 28.349. You're at just under 2 ounces at the exact weight of 28.349 grams per ounce.

A Troy Ounce is a universal measuring method used for precious metals, gun powder, etc. - it's actually just over 31 grams and is known as an 'Imperial Ounce' (2.75 grams over the standard ounce)

One fluid ounce is one fluid ounce. If by "ounce" you mean the unit of weight, that depends on what you have a fluid ounce of. One fluid ounce of water weighs about one avoirdupois ounce. One fluid ounce of gold weighs about 20 avoirdupois ounces.

Which is better buy for ham slices, 32 ounces for $19.84 or 28 ounces for $16.80?

$19.84 / 32 ounce = 0.62 per ounce

$16.80 / 28 ounce = 0.60 per ounce

Purchasing the 28 ounce size is slightly cheaper and would be the better buy.
