I can't get the tension right

try rethreading the machine--use every thread guide
make sure the top thread has not come off the thread take up lever
change the needle --make sure it's the right one for the fabric
being sewed
make sure the bobbin is turned the right way in the bobbin case
if the bobbin is a front or side loading also make sure the bobbin
case is inserted correctly into the machine
if none of these suggestions help then the machine needs to be
checked to see if it's a timing problem

Presser foot up, takeup lever at the top, thread on the top spool pin, take the thread to the left and over the top guide, straight down the right hand side of the tension and go round it making sure the thread goes between the discs, up the left hand side to the takeup lever, thread the takeup lever right to left, take the thread all the way down to the needle going through any guides on the way, thread the needle left to right, make sure the flat side of the needle is facing right.

Thread not picking up bobin tread

not sure which model you have, the best thing is to re thread the upper and the bobbin, make sure you put the bobbin in the right way. if you have the tenson on the front of your machine make sure the thread goes between the disks and correctly goes around the spring tension wire the right way it should be under it after lifting up on the thread.

if the bobbin is in wrong the thread will not be pick up try flipping it and turn the hand wheel by hand to bring up the thread,

How to thread necchi 537L sewing machine

From the reel pin take the thread to the left and over the top thread guide above the takeup lever, make sure the takeup lever is up and and make sure the presser foot is up, take the thread straight down and round the right hand side of the tension unit and back up the left hand side to the takeup lever, thread the takeup lever right to left and take the thread down any guides to the needle, if the bobbin case goes in the front thread the needle front to back, if the bobbin case goes in the side thread the needle left to right.

Machine not sewing

Make sure you have threaded the machine from right to left, it sounds like the needle thread is trapped under the lower looper thread and cannot form a stitch.........start the threading over from scratch like this:

  1. Lower Looper
  2. Upper Looper
  3. Left Needle
  4. Right Needle
Is there a diagram for how to thread on the inside of the door ?

Follow that slowly and carefully to make sure you have not missed any thread guides on the way, as each one needs to be followed through to ensure correct tension and thread progression.

If you are certain that all threaded correctly, did you have a fabric jam and pulled it loose ? If so, the timing may well be affected.

Post an update and we'll get this right.
