Chair motors sometimes do not have brake switches. It relies on the gear ratio keeping the chair from moving while not under power. The freewheel lever disconnects the gear box from the motor.

2005 Suzuki Boulevard C90 the rear brake light stays on

Hi, Michael before diagnosing any brake light issue always check the bulb and fuse first for integrity a brake light staying on is usually caused by the front brake light switch, which is mechanical, not disengaging. On early models moving the throttle control housing closer to the front brake master cylinder is the main fix. On late models, the switch gets tweaked and needs to be realigned. A brake light that does not come on when the brake lever is applied can be caused by a faulty switch or no continuity in the wiring at the switch. The rear brake light switch is hydraulic and it is extremely rare to malfunction in a closed circuit condition causing the brake light to stay on. Usually, rear brake light switch issues are caused by no brake pedal free play or a sticky rear master cylinder piston. A brake light that does not come on when the rear brake pedal is depressed can be caused by a faulty switch, air contamination in the brake line, or no continuity in the wiring at the switch.

Rear lights on my buick will not turn off

Possibly your brake light switch may be improperly adjusted or may be shorted. Purchase a Haynes repair manual for your automobile and follow the remove, install and adjustment procedure in the manual. You should be able to purchase a new switch at your local automotive parts store. You should Google the brake light switch so you can get an idea of what it looks like.

The switch should located either in front or behind the brake pedal lever. Before you purchase the repair manual and brake light switch, remove the wire connector off the brake light switch to confirm the switch or adjustment is your problem.

I hope this helps and good luck!

I have a cub cadet model 3184 i want to be able to mower in reverse it used to all of a sudden it started disengaging the mower when i push reverse pedal.

There are 3 switches to check. The Brake switch, the parking brake switch and the reverse switch. Any one not funtioning properly will cause this symptom.
See this manual page 82 for the Brake and Reversing switch locations:
http://manuals.mtdproducts.com/mtd/GetFile.do?filename=769-02100.pdf

The parking brake switch is under the parking brake handle. It is not shown in the manual.
These are all make or break switches. Check resistance across the terminals in both actuated and extended positions. I think there may be a problem with either the pedal / brake switch or the reversing switch.

Wiring can also cause this same problem.

Thanks for choosing FixYa, Kelly
