I have a Viking VSM700 mixer that worked one day and was put under the counter. Next time it was brought out, it did nothing. No smoke, no noice, nothing. Any ideas?

On mine, one of the two brushes was NOT advancing to hit the motor armature as it wore. Had no power. Had to take unit apart to get to motor. We spread the metal brush holder slightly with a screwdriver and allowed the brush to slide so it can make contact with the armature. Motor now works fine. Shame on the Viking Company for dropping the ball on this product!!!

Dead right, the part you can see is a suppressor which on most machines you don't need these days, snip it off, id the machine does not work when you have taken it off you can get the part from most sewing machine shops

We have a viking cook top and the vent goes up and down but the fan does not always turn on ? Can you help

Hi,
Some units have a dead man switch, which means that if the filters are not in place correctly the blowers will not operate. Its a safety thing to prevent little ones from dropping toys into a running blower. Double check the filters placement, if the filters are in the proper location than I would look at the power to the blower unit. The vent has two jobs, (1) to raise and lower, (2) to turn on the blower unit once in the full up position. If this is not the case, the upper switch in the vent system has failed. If you already confused, you will need to call a Viking expert to correct this problem. Its not difficult but can be time consuming.
I hope this helps
I have seen this problem twice and found the filters were the problem, rarely replace blower motors..

Viking 6000 (model 6440)sewing machine - replacement motor

a quick check on your motor. If it gave a lot of smoke and really thick and heavy oily smell all of a sudden, then your capasitor blew. your machine can work without it. Test your machine to see if it still work as normal. Your motor is still good then and only needs replacing fo the capasitor. This is a common problem!!

FLASH covers a multitude of possibilities. What is the voltage of the blower motor. What you are describing often happens when 220 is wired to a 110 lighting circuit. I would not be running the blower motor although I hope it has inherent built in motor protection. If the voltage is applied higher to light bulbs they become flash bulbs. Florescents can become fire fixtures fast. If you are not an electrician back away from this and disconnect power at your breakers. Do not open up and trouble shoot if you are not qualified so you do not get embarrassed and have a dirt nap. It only takes about 40 vo;ts and a few milliamps cross chess to kill you. Also when ever you turn something on start and keep the habit of using one hand to turn it on and one hand to grab your pants behind you. OK OK or skirt. This prevents a cross chest shock . Fan switch not work - Viking 3048SS brand new range hood

There is the on off switch and the blower control that controls the speed of the fan. It is more than likley the blower control that would need replaced.

There could also be a wire disconnected in the hood.

most of them you have to take the filter off. under the filter, there are some screws. take them out and then it should drop the motor and you will see the electrical.

steve...first, is the light working? If not, you may not have power. If so, turn off all power to the unit at the breaker. Remove the filter and see if the blower turns easily by hand. Yes...switch could be bad...no...motor bad.

Open up unit and using test light from the hardware store and motor plug disconnected...turn on fan and probe the motor feed wire for power. It may be the switch that's bad. This should tell you.
