Restoring a Netgear Router to Factory Default Settings
Symptoms: Cannot access the NETGEAR router or access point web interface login screen, or
You have forgotten/lost the password to log into the NETGEAR router or access point (NOTE : This refers to the password required to access the devices administrative interface. If you have forgotten the password required to access the wireless network, you should refer to this article instead).
If you are trying to access the router itself via it's IP address (192.168.X.1) where X is usually 0, 1 or 2... The username and password should both be admin if not, try no username with admin as the password, or try admin as the username with no password.
If you have forgotten your password you can reset the router to its factory state and setup a new password for it. Resetting the router will wiped out all changes that have been saved. To reset the router, look for the small hole at the back of it. Press and hold it for 10-15 seconds using a Pen or Paperclip. Then access the router settings page so that you can personalize the settings.
For you to access your router you need a working computer that is connected to the router and open a browser type 192.168.1.1 to he address bar and it will ask you for a username and password. The default username is "leave it blank" and the default password is admin.
The default D-link router login is admin with no password. With that said, you probably cannot login to your router because D-link requires you to change this default login the very first time you login to set it up. If you have a router you setup a long time ago and have forgotten its password and settings, you will likely have to reset D-link router password.
If you look at the back of your D-link router, you will see a pin-hole. Inside that hole is a button that resets the router. To perform the reset, insert the end of a paperclip in the hole and depress the button for about ten seconds. Leave the router on during this time. It will reboot by itself and the WAN light will begin flashing on the front.
When it stops, the router is reset and you can login to it using your web browser. Just type http://192.168.0.1 and click enter. You should see the D-link login window. Type admin without a password and you will be presented with the default d-link settings again. Configure a new password and wireless settings and your router will now be accessible again
Hi, If you have forgotten the router password you can reset it. To do this, turn the router upside down and look for a small pinhole that says reset. Get a stapler and press and hold the reset button for 5 seconds. The router will reset to factory defaults and you will be able to login again using the default username and password.
Open your internet browser and type 192.168.1.1 in the address bar. The router's administration page will open and you will have to provide a username and a password. For linksys routers is "admin" for both fields.
Then you will be able to access your router's page and edit the settings.
You reset the D-Link back to the factory default by - Press the RESET button at the back of the wireless router when it is powered up. Holt the RESET button foe at least 5 secs until the LEDs flash and then release the RESET button.
You can then configure the D-Link as follows ;- To set-up and secure the wireless router from unauthorized access, follow these steps: - 1. Connect the wireless router to your computer with a LAN cable. 2. Start your browser and enter the router's configuration URL IP address. 3. Enter the router setup, login and password 4. Change the admin password 5. Go to the wireless settings and change the default SSID and turn off SSID broadcast. 6. Setup encryption key the strongest is WPA2 (if not then WPA). 7. For further security measures - turn on MAC address filtering and enter the MAC address of the wireless cards on the computer/s you want to connect to this wireless router. 8. Record the settings you have made and keep it in a safe place and Save the settings. 9. Configure the wireless cards on the computer/s with the SSID and encryption settings of the router. 10. Remove the LAN cable between the router and the computer then the computers should be able to connect to the router wirelessly.
usually, the router comes with a builtin WEP key which you can obtain from the router configuration page (try 192.168.1.1 with username: admin and password: password) and you can change the WEP key to an easily remembered phrase.
well the default username is admin and the default password is nothing (blank). that is to get into your router settings. if that don't work then just reset the router by the reset button on the back of the router, this will reset all the settings to default and then you can use the default username and password. or if you just want the manual then here you go - ftp://ftp.dlink.com/Gateway/di524/Manual/DI-524_manual_06292005.zip
