Question about Microsoft Xbox 360 Console

1 Answer

Xbox 360 slim won't boot. no lights on console

So my xbox 360 slim won't power on at all from the power button or controller. I have already confirmed that the power supply is working on a different 360 console. None of the USB ports are making contact with the case so that's not the problem either. The console is currently completely torn down and I have confirmed with a multimeter that the board is receiving 5 volts (is in standby mode). An inspection of the capacitors shows that they are perfectly flat and smooth the touch and there is no sign of burn marks on the board around them. My feeling is that the MOSFETs are the next logical place but I'm not sure how to properly test them. I am good with a soldering iron and don't mind removing them from the board if that's necessary to test them but don't want to do so needlessly. Any help would be much appreciated.

Absolutely positive. The output of the psu itself is 5v and I can confirm that there is also 5 volts at pin 10 of the power socket on the mobo. 5 volts should indicate that the psu is simply in standby mode. Unfortunately I'm not sure where I should be looking next to find the problem. As I said, my feeling is that the mosfets are the next likely culprit but in order to test them I would need to first desolder the coils from the mobo. If thats the case then so be it, I would just really like to hear the opinion of someone with more knowledge than myself on the subject before i start down that road

Well actually I guess I'm not sure. How would I test that?

I'm not sure what you're referring to. The plug receptacle for the power cord.

Xbox 360 won't eject with front button.

Depending on your Xbox slim(black) or original (white), you can hold down the Xbox button, or go to the main menu and eject from there manually, this is a temporary bug, it also dependes on the ae of your xbox so don't mess with it and retry every few hours

My xbox 360 will not sync with any controllers besides the one controller I've already had synced. I haven't had any problems with it until recently, and now it seems like the xbox won't...

If you have an xbox slim model then there is a button above the USB slots at the bottom. Press Start and Back on the controller until the center button lights up. Then press the button above the two USB solts and hold it for a couple secs.
If you have n old xbox there should be a simliar button some where.
Also if you bought one of the charging packs for the controller, use the cord that came with it.
Thank you for your time, Good luck and I hope it works.

My controller will not link with my xbox. it just flashes 4 green lights around the circle. what can i do?

Did you sync it? here's how to sync it:

Step 1: Power on your Xbox 360 console2_bing.gif. In this guide I'm assuming everyone already has their console2_bing.gif hooked up, if not, contact me.

Step 2: Power on Xbox2_bing.gif 360 Controller. Make sure it has a battery pack that has correctly place and working batteries or charged re-chargeable battery pack.

Step 3: Locate the small circular sync button on your controller. It is near where your controller can be plugged in (between the LB and RB).

Step 4: Locate the small circular sync button on your Xbox 360 console. It is next to Memory Unit slot 2.

Step 5: Press and hold the controller sync button until the green power lights start spinning.

Step 6: While your controller lights are still spinning press and hold the console sync button. The console's lights should spin also, then flash, and finally show the player slot light on both the console and the controller.

Viola! You've synced your wireless controller! You can sync up to four controllers.
Also, you can use this guide to sync to different Xbox 360 consoles. So you can bring only your controller to your friend's house.

Note: If you sync your controller to another console, you will have to re-sync it to your own afterwords.
