Open Question

There is a creaking or squeaking noise when raising or lowering the seat or lid of our Caroma toilet. I have sprayed it all over with WD40 but it has made it worse. It is not possible to actually get into the enclosed plastic casing. Has anyone any suggestions as to how we can stop this noise?

SOURCE: Screeching Noise

If you know that the fan is the culprit then it can be replaced. The motors are fairly cheap and easy to replace.

SOURCE: Strange Noise - Creaking

I had the same problem. My fridge would make a creaking sound as soon as the freezer was closed. I took 10 minutes to trouble shoot the problem and pinpointed that it was coming from the icemaker. After wondering if I was going to have to replace it, I noticed a piece of ice wedged in a way so that the ice maker arms could not fall into the basin to make ice. The sound was the motor creaking because of the jam. Removed the ice and the sound went away. Now, I'm sure the motor will **** out in a few months since it has been jammed for 2 weeks burning up the motor. Oh well. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: creaking noise in front end 1997 explorer

I had the same problem. It would squeak kinda bad when I pull in my driveway. My cv boots were good. I found the ball joints were getting wore out, as well as the shocks were over 10 yrs old. I replaced the ball joints and shocks. I know my squeaks stopped, I personally believe it was the shocks that fixed my squeaking.

SOURCE: tiled bathroom floor. Went to install toilet

hi, the tile is supposed to go under the toilet flange (the thing you put the wax ring on), very common "oops", can be rectified by placing another wax ring right on top of the first on. best to make the first one a "horn type" wax ring, then put the plain one (no horn) on top of first and try to smoosh it on just enough to stay in place so when you install toilet it doesn't move,.....cheers!

Can up country shocks be used on a non-up country suspension. Worried about the travel and collapsed measurements. Not enough travel or too little?

doubtful the shocks would be the source of any creaking/squeaks. Most creaking and squeak noises are usually a result of worn/dry bushings. I would inspect all swaybar/control arm bushings for dryness and deteriation. Spraying wd40 on all rubber bushings in the rear may cause the noise to subside for a while until you are able to isolate the exactr source

How do i remove the lid on my modern style toilet cystern

Your lid should have two PVC or Nylon screws on the underside. Twist them off and pull off your seat. They may be excessively tight to keep the side from sliding from side-to-side, so be prepared with a pair of Channel-Locks to get in there and break them loose.

I need a tank LID for the 270 Caravelle dual flush toilet. Where can I get one fast? A customer broke the lid in a thousand pieces and we need a replacement ASAP.

Toilet seats are standard and fully interchangable. You should be able to pick one up at your local hardware store. The only thing you need to know is if you have a round or elongated bowl.

How to stop the creaking sound in a new full suspension mountain bike? (it's not the seat post or handlebars)

Well that's a hard problem to solve without having the bike here, not hearing the noise. Make sure your chain is lubricated (with bike chain oil, not WD40), because this is the foremost cause of weird bike noises in my experience. The other thing, is it a Target/Wal-Mart/CostCo/Etc bike? these bikes have REALLY inferior parts and they will indeed squeak and squeal.

Creaking noise in front end 1997 explorer

Sounds like it is your CV axles.  Turn the wheel one direction, right or left, and check just behind the wheels to see if your CV boot is cracked or ripped (the boot is a black, rubber accordion looking thing).  If it is cracked or ripped, I would say that is definitely the problem.
