SOURCE: Empire DV-215 Low Flame Issue

Either a restriction in the gas train, low gas pressure or a bad gas valve. Check the pressure on the gas line when on pilot and again when the burners are running. Depending upon what type of gas it runs on, you should have at least 4" W.C. if Natural Gas and 10" W.C. if Propane. If gas pressures test good and all valves are open, you are looking at replacing the gas valve.

My pilot light will not stay on. when you go to turn the knob to keep it on it just goes out.

My recommendation is that you will have to measure the millivolts created by the flame on the thermocouple, under most circumstance the pilot will not stay on if it doesn't stay greater than about 20mv if it does reach or exceed 20mv then the gas valve that recieves the mv has an internal componant that is out and should be replaced (never repair the gas valve). Hope that helps!

Pilot won't light.

If you try but the pilot won't stay lit, you probably have a bad thermocouple. It is a small probe located in the pilot that has either two wires wrapped in a metal jacket going to the gas valve or one copper tube also going to the gas valve. To get to it, you will have to open up the burner chamber and drop it out. Take the thermocouple to a good hardware store or fireplace shop for a new one.

Heats fine when gets up to temp gos down to pilet will not lite back up tell i tap the valve

you could have a dirty pilot. these run on 750 mv. it takes around 200 to run the main burner. check to see if the pilot is sharp and blue or lazy and yellow. loose or dirty connection on the wiring will also cauce this problem.

The heater piolet light goes out when you move to use the heater

There is a thermo coupler that shuts the gass off if it is ba. It is locacted just in front of the pilot flame It has to sense the pilot to let the gss through. It is an easy fix and inexpensive.

Pilot will light, burner will not light.

check all limit switches to see if they can be reset if so reset it ,if problem reoccurs wich limit is going out ? make sure all wires are connected well to your gas valve , use a low voltage tester to make sure your firing circuit is operating properly , if you have a thermocouple it may not have enough juice left to open your gas valve
