Sound driver problem in Compaq C740TU / O.S- Window XP

You need to download the drivers from the Compaq/HP WEB support/download page. Make sure you select your model laptop and the XP or Vista Windows version of the drivers you require and install them. Use this link to download the drivers: -

If your machine is a Presario SR2011WM as posted this is the sound driver for your machine under XP.

If you have problems installing the driver or if you posted this under a different model number than your own machine please reply with the exact model number and I'll do further checking for you.

Yes it supports Windows XP and also Windows Vista Home Basic aswell.

For a Compaq Presario C740TU Notebook PC running Windows XP, audio drivers would be for Conexant High-Definition Audio. Importantly, SoftPaq Number SP31994, "Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) Bus Driver for High Definition Audio," (or later) must be installed on the notebook before installing SP32823.
