I want to install a ceiling fan. My ceiling is 80 year old lathe and plaster design. Will the vibration from fan movement cause my ceiling to crack?

mcdevito75 here, Hopefully your ceiling fan will go where there has been an already light fixture, if so, that light fixture shoud be mounted to the ceiling beam, and your new fan will be mounted the same way. If by chance your new ceiling fan is being mounted where nothing was ever mounted you"ll have to make sure the ceiling fan will mount to a beam, they are every 16 inches apart. This way you:"ll know that vibration from the fan won"t hurt anything.

HOW CAN I CHANGE THE BULBS FOR THE MAP LIGHTS AND THE CIGAR ASH R

Hi,
By map lights I assume you mean the ones at the top of the windsheild on the ceiling? They are easy, but it takes a lot of force to pry the assembly from the ceiling without damaging anything.
First make sure they are not hot, so make sure the ones you touch have been off for at least a few minutes. The whole assembly comes off of the ceiling, just pry back the edges to get a good grip and pull down. It should come straight off. Then pull the old bulbs, wipe the new ones and install them with a lint free cloth. The light cluster will press back up into the ceiling.
For the ash tray light, it gets a bit more complicated. The light is under the center console. With the gray interior in my car, the console top is black, and that's what you're prying up. You can pull (pry) the center console straight up, and tilt it to the side, where you can look in from the side and get to the bulb. It's a little thing just where you think it would be. Again, install without getting oils or fingerprints on it, and if you do, wipe them off. The console will press back down with a little wiggling.

Disassembly insrtuctions

Get up there with screwdrivers and find out! You need that funky fanblade-driver tool first, but once you get the blades off and things cleaned, you can deal with pulling guards off and finding the key screw to the ceiling ball retainer, etc. Don't forget to get the breaker off before you get down to the wire nuts....

Or: Craigslist the old one and require the buyer to get it down.

Ceiling fan

If the fan blade mounts are removable, go to your local hardware store with one of the mounts, and find some screws that will fit. You might not be able to get the same color, but if you check a few stores you should find something with the right shape of head to fit snugly.
