II replaced and now handwheel difficult to to turn and cannot catch bobbin.

did you get the machine from a dealor or individual? not all machines put their needles in the same way. do you have a manual? it sounds like the machine needs to be cleaned (serviced). the oil is probably thickened, and will freeze the machine up. make sure the needle is in correctly, and threaded correctly. bobbin too.

The dog feed has dropped and will not come up.

I tried to push on the foot to make the machine go, and it seemed to make it work.

Can you use calgon in a steam generator iron?

Calgon is designed for washing machines and nowhere does it mention its use in steam irons, so I would say no. Rather use pure distilled water, not even deionized water. It is more expensive to use but will ensure a longer life for your iron.

No steam

What you need to do is clean out the steam orifice. (The tiny hole the steam comes out) When water is turned to steam it leaves behind mineral deposits, (Iron, Calcium) Especially if you have "hard" water in your area. Here's what you do. Add some CLR, (Calcium,Lime Remover) to the water you put in the iron, let it sit a while, laying flat, then drain the water out. You want to get the nozzle, to, holding the iron upside down, try to immerse the steam nozzle for a couple of seconds in the CLR or drip some directly on it. You can buy this product in most stores. It works well and fast. Dip your showerhead in it too, you'll be suprised at how it improves water flow. It is safe as long as you follow the instructions.

Hardly any steam comes out...hose is getting pretty hot...How do I clean it out..Iv'e had it for a while.

Soak the nozzle in white vinegar for 10-15 minutes. Dip it into plain water to rinse the vinegar out. The deposits in the nozzles will be melted away.
